Injury Ward: Nuge’s Availability for the Final Games, Offseason Procedures for Bichsel & O’Connor

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening everyone. Welcome to the Injury Ward. My name is Logan Clarkson and every Wednesday I will be chauffeuring you through injury news and updates from around the NHL. I'll do my best to offer useful analysis and opinion as it relates to fantasy throughout. As always, I’d like to thank every single one of you for reading. Now, on to the bad (and some good) news.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins / EDM – Nuge (undisclosed) has been worse for wear all series it seems. Ryan had an electric start to the conference finals against Dallas, posting nine points in the first four games of the series before being taken hard into the boards behind the Stars net in game four. He has gone pointless and is a minus three in the four games since. He just has not looked the same and it's quite sad. The Oilers have looked to be in rough shape in the Stanley Cup Finals having watched the first three games, they are sorely missing Zach Hyman and a full health RNH. I've heard rumblings of a broken hand but we will most likely have to wait until Lord Stanley is handed out to find out that type of clandestine information.

Logan O’Connor / COL – O’Connor (hip) underwent successful hip surgery Friday morning (June 6). The procedure was performed by Dr. Bryan Kelly at HSS (Hospital for Special Surgery) in New York City. He is expected to be out 5-6 months.

Tyler Seguin / DAL – Seguin (shoulder) is set to rehab a shoulder injury through the summer. When Tyler Seguin retires he may be someone who would benefit from a full body replacement to enjoy the rest of his days. The guy has had more injuries than a bull rider throughout his career, he can't be too comfortable from day to day.

Lian Bichsel / DAL – Bichsel (shoulder/ankle) is rehabbing a shoulder injury, and has also had an ankle plate removed due to a prior injury that had been bothering him. Bichsel managed one point in 18 playoff games, while averaging 11:47 in time on ice.

Roope Hintz / DAL – Hintz (foot) apparently had to have vials of blood drained from his foot after breaking his foot on a slash from Darnell Nurse. Now, I am most likely biased on this but it really did not look like that bad of a play from Nurse. Regular playoff rat type stuff. Sam Bennet has done a minimum of four things that are worse in just the finals alone, in my humble opinion. The Stars unfortunately seem to be taking some interesting lessons from this conference finals loss and are rumored to be shopping Jason Robertson in order to be able to sign…. Mikael Granlund? Interesting. I'm not going to be mad if this happens as a fan of a rival team but it certainly does not seem like the right play to me.
