Good morning, good afternoon, good evening everyone. Welcome back to the Injury Ward. My name is Logan Clarkson and every Wednesday and Sunday I will be chauffeuring you through injury news and updates from around the NHL. I'll do my best to offer useful analysis and opinion as it relates to fantasy throughout. As always I’d like to thank every single one of you for reading. Now, on to the bad (and some good) news.

Conor Garland / Vancouver Canucks – Garland (undisclosed) left the game and did not return Tuesday against the Rangers after getting clapped in open ice by Sam Carrick, popping his helmet off like he was a rockem sockem robot (the hit looked clean) Garland has been valuable to the Canucks through his first 11 games scoring three times and adding eight assists, with four of those points coming on the man advantage. He’s been skating on a line with Petterson and Boeser so that certainly helps when Petterson has been starting to come alive in the past week (four points in two games before laying some eggs against the New York Rangers on Tuesday).

Shayne Gostisbehere / Carolina Hurricanes – Gostisbehere’s (lower body) injury sustained Tuesday versus the Golden Knights is not related to his previous injury, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes’ official site reports. Another knock for Gostisbehere took him out of the lineup in his first game back from a separate lower body problem which kept him out for two games. This man cannot catch a break after a super-hot start posting seven points in five games before the first knock.

Mikael Granlund / Anaheim Ducks – Granlund (lower body) will be out for at least a few weeks, according to NHL.com. This comes after Granlund left the Ducks' game on Saturday against the Lightning. I’ve liked Granlund for years as a late grab in drafts, and even waivers at times but he’s been a bit of a frustrating own this year so far since five of his eight points have come in one single game this past Saturday. His ice time has also taken a bit of a hit on his new team. Funny little note, he played in 83 regular season games last year due to being traded from San Jose to Dallas, which is one more than any single team plays.

Chris Kreider/ Anaheim Ducks – Kreider (illness) won’t play against Florida on Tuesday, according to NHL.com. This is the fourth straight game that Chris has sat out due to an unnamed illness, and all I can think of is the plight of sitting on the toilet with a bucket in my hands every year around Christmas time. Kreider did have issues with vertigo last season after contracting another illness, so there's a possibility it’s happening again but we really don’t know. He’s considered day to day for now.

Jake Neighbours / St. Louis Blues – Neighbours (lower body) suffered a right-leg injury and will be out of action for at least five weeks. As a result, the Blues placed him on injured reserve Tuesday. Neighbours has six goals and an assist through eight contests so far and if he can keep that production up over the season upon his return, he will add 0.33 points per game to his total of 0.51 from last season. Chances are he won’t since he’s shooting 50 percent so far, but he has at least linearly improved his point totals in every season so far which is what you like to see for young talent.

Mats Zuccarello / Minnesota Wild – Zuccarello (lower body) was on the ice for Tuesday’s game-day skate but remains 2-4 weeks from returning to action, Jessi Pierce of NHL.com reports. Zucc has only played in 69 (ha) games in each of the last two seasons, and saw a fall from 0.91 points per game in 2023-24 to just 0.78 last year. He has yet to play a game this season so even when he is back, it will probably be a bit slow to start. This season will be his 16th in the league. A bit of a feat considering he’s not a giant.

Brad Marchand / Florida Panthers – Marchand (personal) did not play against the Islanders on Tuesday, and there have been no updates on a return. We can assume it won’t be too long of an absence, since it is due to a death in the family and not any sort of ongoing personal issue. Marchand has managed to put up five goals and 11 points through 10 games played which leads the Panthers. The absence of Aleksander Barkov has been felt so far for more than a few Florida players, including Sam Reinhart who only has six points through 11 games.

Joseph Woll / Toronto Maple Leafs – Woll (personal) had been away from the team since preseason, but returned late last week, and was on the ice with the Maple Leafs for their skate on Monday. You may want to keep him stashed for a little bit because according to Terry Koshan of the Sudbury Star, Brad Treliving had this to say about the situation, "We're going to let him get his feet under him. The plan is to get him up and going and watch and adjust on a daily basis." In my own interpretation of this, I would think he makes a start inside two weeks but anything can happen with a guy who has to get back into game shape. Not having a preseason is a bigger damper than we usually assume. All the best to Joseph moving forward.

Robert Thomas / St. Louis Blues – Thomas (upper body) did not play on Monday or Tuesday for the Blues. Thomas sustained the injury on Saturday against the Red Wings. He is considered day to day. Through his first five games he has a goal and an assist, and in the next three he managed four assists, including two in the game he left with injury.

Roope Hintz / Dallas Stars – Hintz (undisclosed) was pasted against the boards by Taylor Hall on the weekend, and is day to day as a result. Glen Gulutzan, head coach of the Stars said so himself but also added a bit of smoke and mirrors to the situation with this quote, posted by beat reporter Robert Tiffin – "Both, I would call them, certainly, day-to-day, you know these things, they take a little longer. But yeah, maybe not for a bit here." Very interesting Glen, very interesting.
