Good morning, good afternoon, and good evening! Welcome back to the Injury Ward. My name is Logan Clarkson and every Wednesday and Sunday I will be taking you through injury news and updates from around the NHL. I'll do my best to offer useful analysis and opinion as it relates to fantasy throughout. As always, I’d like to thank every single one of you for reading. So, on to the bad (and some good) news.

Thatcher Demko / Vancouver Canucks – Demko sustained a lower-body injury Saturday versus the Maple Leafs and will be evaluated over the coming days, Thomas Drance of The Athletic reports. In the meantime, Demko has already been placed on IR. Your weekly Demko injury has arrived – it’s about a week late but we got it. Never in doubt. Demko had a great three game stretch in mid-December including a shutout and wins in all three, but hasn't touched higher than an .895 SV% since then in the six-game stretch right after.

Brad Marchand / Florida Panthers – Marchand (undisclosed) missed his second game in a row on Saturday. He was pulled from Tuesday's game against Toronto due to an injury that he had been battling recently that got worse during the game. Marchand is leading the Panthers in scoring with 46 points, two points ahead of teammate Sam Reinhart. He's bumped up his SOG/g a bit, but he's hitting quite a bit less than prior years.  

Joel Eriksson Ek / Minnesota Wild – Eriksson Ek (lower body) was out of the lineup in Minnesota's 4-3 overtime loss to the Islanders. Eriksson Ek is a decent all cats type of player, but his shots, blocks, and hits are all down a bit this year. He's seen a bump in points per game over last year, but is still coming up a bit short of the 0.83 he had managed in the 2023-24 season.

Travis Konecny / Philadelphia Flyers – Konecny (lower body) took a knock in practice on Sunday morning and seemed to be skating quite gingerly, unable to put weight on his leg. He took a spin after practice to see how it reacted, but we have no real news on what's going on as of yet. Konecny had already missed Saturday's game with an upper-body injury so he's clearly quite banged up right now. His status for Monday seems doubtful.

Linus Ullmark / Ottawa Senators – Ullmark (personal) was placed on the non-roster list Thursday, per Murray Pam of Hockey Hot Stove. There's lots of discourse about what’s going on in Ottawa these days and it's all pretty spicy, including the team’s statement written by Steve Staios. It's all very weird, and their play on the ice is definitely showing some of the frustration from whatever it is that’s going on behind the scenes. Regardless of Ullmark's 14-8-1 record, his 0.880 SV% and -13.70 GSAx shows us there’s a bit left to be desired. Tack on six RBS (really bad starts) and you begin to see the full on-ice picture.

Troy Terry / Anaheim Ducks – Terry (upper body) didn't play Saturday against Buffalo. Terry has exploded this year to nearly a point per game (0.98) so far. He's been getting a little bit more power-play time, and a lot more shorthanded time which he rarely saw in past years. Something kind of funny that I came across in Terry's stats is his penchant to throw the body, as in he has zero. Zero hits so far this year, not that he has had many in the past, but I feel like that’s pretty rare.

Carter Hart / Vegas Golden Knights – Hart (lower body) is week-to-week, per SinBin Vegas on Saturday. Hart has been pretty mid for Vegas so far before injury, gathering five QS (quality starts) and four RBS. All of that adds up to an 0.870 SV% and a 3.28 GAA. His -7.63 GSAx doesn't scream excellence either. I don't know about you, but I’m not exactly cheering for the guy. Adin Hill is almost ready to rejoin the team, so we will see if Akira Schmid or Hart gets sent down to the AHL.

Bo Horvat / New York Islanders – Horvat (lower body) isn’t with the Islanders for the start of their seven-game road trip, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports. Horvat has arguably been the most important player for the Islanders so far this season. With 33 points in 36 games played, 0.92 points per game is the loftiest totals of Bo's career to date. He's enjoying tons of ice time on special teams, and he's shooting a lot too (3.39 SOG/g). His S% is a little high at 17.2, but I wouldn't put it past him to hold there.

Alex Lyon / Buffalo Sabres – Lyon (lower body) is expected to miss an additional 7-10 days, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports Wednesday. Buffalo has won 13 of their last 14 games, and no one had that on their bingo card with the way the first 30 percent of the season had gone for them. Lyon played a big part in the win streak before injury, including winning his last seven starts while in the lineup while gathering QS in five of those games.
