DFS Tuesday: Great Spot for Tampa Bay; Edmonton’s New Top Line; Rasmus Dahlin on Point, and More

Good day, everyone! Anyone else stack the Islanders last night? I had them with the Vegas second line and was worried for a bit as I rostered Reilly Smith doing Reilly Smith DFS things…which is a zero. Still cashed thanks to my best friends the Islanders top line and it could be time we have to start stacking against the Canucks even though for parts of that game I thought they looked alright. My co-worker won an Ilya Sorokin signed puck in an auction and in mornings following a good outing from him I message him his Vezina odds…he is now you're favorite at +105. Stock up if you happen to have a Sorokin signed puck from a Facebook auction.

This is one of those slates upcoming where my eyes went straight to a couple different matchups we have on the board, which is always great when you don't have to dig too deep to find a stat or matchup that's enticing.

Tampa Bay Lightning

Oh what to do, what to do…I like this spot quite a bit with the Sharks on a road back-to-back and Yaroslav Askarov in net. The problem I'm running into here, like all nice things, is price and that is what we have to navigate with the Bolts. I've played with different lineup iterations for the Tampa top line and getting to a point where if you stack parts of the top line, or make the top line a full-on stack, you're only sitting with around $3,200 loose change for the rest of your lineup. Part of me wants to fade this spot and hope that Tampa doesn't end everyone's night by the middle of the second period, but another part of me is trying to gage whether to play them. This might be a place to grab an expensive one-off Nikita Kucherov and build out the rest of your lineup. For me in single-entry I'm probably looking at different options but in multiple entry I think there's an argument to be made to have one expensive Tampa Bay lineup.

Montreal Canadiens

Now we're talking! This affordability, my friends. I also love this matchup for the Habs tonight and it has everything to do with who they'll see in net on the other side. The Wild played yesterday with Filip Gustavsson in net, meaning we'll see Jesper Wallstedt tonight who has significantly cooled off in the past month. In his last four starts he has just one win and two of those matchups he allowed five or more goals. I'm here for playing the Montreal top line, and if you wanted to pivot one spot off Kirby Dach and make a a Nick Suzuki ($6,300) – Cole Caufield ($6K) two-man stack, I see the vision. I don't really dip my toe into the player prop bets but have seen great props on those two getting at least one point. Sometimes those markets reflect what we see in DFS, so for me this could very well be a Montreal night.

Edmonton Oilers

Rarely have I ever said that Edmonton's top line fits well with a couple other stacks, but tonight they most certainly do. They're going to be going up against a New Jersey team on a road back-to-back, with the Oilers coming in outscoring clubs in their last two games 11-0. With Leon Draisaitl possibly out, you're looking at an Edmonton top-line of Connor McDavid ($10,300) – Zach Hyman ($6,800), and Vasily Podkolzin ($3,200) which is what makes this stack manageable. Podkolzin is someone I don't know if I'd leave off here either as he's cheap enough to roster and has four points in his last four games. The nice thing with Edmonton is they fit perfect wither either the Pavel Zacha line for the Bruins, Dylan Cozens line for Ottawa, or parts of the Nashville top line. What you could do here with the Oilers in say three or five max is have two or three Edmonton top line stacks with any of those lines as fillers and have a good chance at getting into the money if Edmonton has a solid night. If you're a DFS player that typically spends up in net then this might not be the build for you, but I know for myself, I usually end up spending down a little bit in net which is what you'd need to do if you're looking to play the Oilers with a decent filler stack.

Defense

For me, the top of my defense board would be Rasmus Dahlin at $6,800 and in that $6K or above range, I don't mind Darren Raddysh either. Brock Faber at $5,400 might be a little bit too expensive for what I'd want to pay to roster him but if he makes his way into, your lineup I'm fine with the play. Noah Dobson at $5,300 is someone I'm targeting tonight, and I also like Tomas Harley at $4,900 a fair bit. Justin Faulk at $4,300 is alright as well as his teammate Colton Parayko at $4K. For Parayko, it's more the blocks that I would be chasing over his offense as he's been cold in that department as of late, but he's always live for a block bonus. I like Alexander Carrier for a cheap d-man tonight at $3,100 and can see him being a great punt option.

Goalies

Would I love to play Andrei Vasilevskiy at $8,500? Yes. Will I have the money to do so? That is an emphatic 'no', but he's in an excellent matchup on home ice. I hope that these articles in the morning are your go-to for all things DFS life and love but today is one of those we're you're going to need to check back at confirmed starts (on GoaliePost, of course!), because there are a couple spots in particular where I have interest in one starter over the other by a long shot. I'm all in on rostering Jet Greaves at $7,600…the same thing cannot be said for Elvis Merzlikins who honestly, if he gets the start forget everything you read above and just go stack the Senators. I'm a fan of Ukko-Pekka Luukonen right below at $7,500 but that would be the only Buffalo starter that I would have any interest here. Then we get to the Blues, who if it's Joel Hofer in net I'm here to roster at $7,300. You guys get the idea, yes to Hofer, no for Jordan Binnington. I think $7,300 is probably the lowest I'd spend in net tonight but if you need some salary leftover and roster Jeremy Swayman at $7K even, I'm alright with that.

That's it for now, best of luck tonight everybody!
