Welcome back to another season of fantasy hockey at Dobber! With the NHL season in full swing, it's time for another weekly fantasy dive. In this column, whether you are scanning the waiver wire for possible adds or scouring the trade market to improve your team, we have the information you need. Managers, let’s look ahead at the upcoming weeks in fantasy hockey.
Fantasy Hockey Player Outlook
Who can be had on the waiver wire, and who should you avoid picking up? Check out the fantasy hockey players’ outlook for the upcoming week.

Mid-Season Adds (Claim these players on the waiver wire)
Joel Farabee, LW, Calgary Flames, Rostered-39% (Yahoo)
The Flames have been hot as of late, and Joel Farabee has been a big reason for their success. Calgary's roster looks razor-thin on paper, which leaves a lot of opportunity for a guy like Farabee to play big minutes. Someone on the team has to be the leading scorer at season’s end, and that very well could be him.
Jack Roslovic, RW, Toronto Maple Leafs, Rostered-53%
Jack Roslovic has gotten off to a hot start to the season but is still available in nearly half of Yahoo leagues. He's been a nice fit alongside Auston Matthews on Toronto's top line. With John Tavares and Kirill Marchenko sidelined, he becomes even more valuable to the Maple Leafs.
Young Players to Build Off (Young players who are hot right now)
Jonathan Lekkerimaki, RW, Vancouver Canucks, Rostered-10%
Former first-round pick Jonathan Lekkerimaki has finally gotten an opportunity to play big minutes with Vancouver, and he's run with it this year. He's been red hot with seven points over the last six games and should be raising eyebrows among fantasy managers around the league.
Berkly Catton, C, Seattle Kraken, Rostered-4%
Berkly Catton is a name that not a lot of people are talking about right now. He had a disappointing rookie campaign for Seattle, but this season he already has nine points in twelve games. He has taken over the third-line center role from Shane Wright and also sees time with the man advantage.
Steer Clear (Players you should avoid in fantasy leagues, or sell immediately if you own them)
Artturi Lehkonen, LW, Colorado Avalanche, Rostered-84%
Not many would've had Artturi Lehkonen among the NHL goal leaders after a dozen games, but here we are. However, it's important to note that he’s only hit the 25-goal mark once in his career. His ownership has skyrocketed, and while he holds fantasy value as long as he’s lined up with Nathan MacKinnon, don't expect him to continue his torrid pace.
Quinton Byfield, C, Los Angeles Kings, Rostered-38%
After Anze Kopitar's retirement, many thought this could be the year we see Quinton Byfield break out. The former second-overall pick hasn't lived up to expectations early in his career. This year has been no different, as he's managed only four points this year. It might be time for the Kings to move on from him, and managers should do the same.
Buy Now Players (You should trade for these players as soon as possible)
Joel Eriksson-Ek, Minnesota Wild, C, Rostered-77%
The Minnesota Wild have a big hole down the middle of their lineup, and right now that leaves Joel Eriksson-Ek as their best option. Eriksson-Ek is currently slotted between Kirill Kaprizov and Matt Boldy on the team’s top line and top power play. It's hard not to find offensive success when surrounded by that level of talent.
Matvei Michkov, RW, Philadelphia Flyers, Rostered-51%
After a massively disappointing sophomore season, Flyers forward Matvei Michkov looks to be back on track in Year 3. With Philadelphia finding their groove as of late, now is the time to be a buyer in Michkov stock.
NHL Team Outlooks
Analyzing the upcoming week’s schedule to see which NHL teams are expected to have a strong week and who will be in tough. Which teams’ players should you be buying stock in, and which teams should you avoid at all costs? Take a peek at the NHL team outlook for the upcoming week.
*Note: This week’s analysis covers the period of Oct 30-Nov 8. The weekly fantasy matchup runs from Nov 2-8. Teams that play more games during the week/matchup often gain more favor in the schedule analysis.
Matchup Favorites (Players from these teams will pay dividends in the coming games.)
Anaheim Ducks
The Ducks have had an up-and-down start to their season. They're an exciting young group that started winning earlier than anyone had anticipated in the rebuild. Their upcoming schedule should help them realize similar success to last season.
Colorado Avalanche
Colorado started their season red hot but have dropped a few games down the stretch. Expect them to get back on track and take their place atop the Central Division after the next few games.
Edmonton Oilers
The Edmonton Oilers are among the top-5 teams in the NHL off the backs of their superstars. The injury to Devon Levi has slowed their momentum, but they should be able to get back to winning ways down the stretch.
Matchup Killers (Avoid players from these teams at all costs in the upcoming games.)
Los Angeles Kings
It's been a start of the season to forget for the Los Angeles Kings. Unfortunately for them, they have a thin upcoming schedule and will have to wait a bit longer to climb out of the hole they've dug for themselves.
New York Islanders
The Islanders will be in tough to come away with some points over their next three contests. They face three of the NHL's top teams in New Jersey, Edmonton, and Carolina.
Washington Capitals
It hasn't been a terrible start for the Washington Capitals as they sit just outside of a playoff berth. However, they face a tough upcoming schedule in the games ahead. Despite a deep roster, don't expect them to pay dividends in the coming days.
