The Avs have recalled Brad Richardson. He had one point in three AHL contests.

Erik Cole has been placed on IR. He is eligible to return Nov.21. Andrew Ladd has been activated off of IR.

Don Waddell has announced that he will coach Atlanta for the rest of the season.

Jonas Hiller, obviously, has been recalled by the Ducks. 

Destinations for Bryzgalov that I can see:
Florida – as a backup and sub in for Vokoun's many injuries
Detroit – because Hasek's always hurt and Howard isn't ready
LA – because they don't have reliability at No.1 and they may want to stick it to ANA
Phoenix – I don't think they are in love with Auld/Tellqvist as their tandem
Toronto – just kidding. They would never admit that they have failed at something.
Washington – a bit of a longshot here, but he would be an upgrade to Johnson and would ease Kolzig's load. 

Pittsburgh  – the perfect guy to take the lead on Fleury, give him a push – just for one year, right?

Tampa Bay – cap constraints may make this tough, but they need a goalie to step up.

Interesting decision. The Ducks must have given up trying to trade Bryzgalov because they have placed him on waivers. Stay tuned, he is bound to end up somewhere… 

I don't understand why the morons in the media and in the NHL offices keep beating the same dead mule with their ideas to increase scoring. Widen the nets? Smaller padding? How many times do we need to go down this road? If they had a brain in their head they would ask themself one simple question – when was scoring TOO MANY goals a problem and what was done to reduce scoring at the time? Find the answer to that question, and then reverse the rule changes that were made. Is that too simple? The answer, by the way, is the late 50's and the mid-80s. In the late 50's the Habs were scoring multiple goals on the power play so the NHL adopted a rule stating that only one goal can be scored per PP. In the mid-80's the Oilers were scoring tons of goals so the NHL adopted a rule stating that coincidental minors would be played out five-on-five. Just change one or both of those rules back and the problem is solved without changing the integrity of the game. Is that so difficult? Dobber for GM! Comment on this here.

Peter Chiarelli has gone on record as saying that Patrice Bergeron "could be out for the whole year".

To activate Berard in the Experts League, I needed to free up a roster spot. However, with Enstrom, Whitney, Poti, Wagner, Mara, Meszaros and Klesla all satisfying me of late – I had no place to put him. I'm pretty happy with my entire team, for that matter, having fought my way back up to fourth place. So I needed to try a two for one. I ended up offering Burnsy Mara and Penner for Milan Michalek. He turned it down, but countered Nagy instead of Penner. I accepted the deal. My defensemen are down 11 games so I now have seven that I can rotate and make those games up. 

Sean Hill's final game of his suspension will be today. If you need a depth guy on the point, you can pick him up this weekend.

The Wild slapped together a line of Gaborik (who finally returned), Parrish and Belanger midway through last night's game and the trio combined on a pair of goals. Belanger actually had four points in the game.

Mathieu Schneider missed last night's contest with a sore hip and is day to day.

The Anaheim line of Andy McDonald, Todd Marchant and Drew Miller have been clicking, scoring four goals in four games. Nothing too stellar, but decent third-line totals. McDonald is really suffering with Selanne. Meanwhile, the player who I thought would suffer the most – Chris Kunitz – picked up three helpers last night.

Kyle Calder is back skating and is looking to return by the end of November. He has a fractured thumb.

Mathieu Garon has appeared in five of Edmonton's last eight contests, picking up three wins. He has stopped 66 of his last 68 shots.

Mattias Norstrom had surgery on his orbital bone and will be out of the Dallas lineup for another three weeks or so.

Freddie Modin's back will keep him off the ice for another week and out of the lineup for at least another two.

Mike Peca's groin will keep him out of the lineup for another week at the minimum.

Jose Theodore will get the start tonight.

Craig Rivet missed last night's game with a leg injury. He is questionable for Saturday. Matt Carle was back in the lineup.

Milan Michalek missed yesterday's action with an elbow strain. With one week off after Saturday's game, look for him to miss one more contest.

Another rookie is approaching that magical 10th game – David Perron will play his ninth game tonight. After that, the Blues need to decide whether or not to keep him for the full season or send him back to junior.

Boston recalled Tuukka Rask

Cory Murphy has a bruised shoulder and is day to day.

Bill Guerin and Bryan Berard returned to the Islanders lineup. Berard played 18:22 and manned the PP. The problem was, the Isles were barely on the PP. When they start getting some man advantage minutes, Berard will start putting up the points. No surprise – Marc-Andre Bergeron was a healthy scratch.
Chris Clark was back in the Washington lineup and played 19:30. Chris Bourque was a healthy scratch as a result.

Richard Zednik was back in the Florida lineup after missing two games with the flu.

The Penguins made Mark Recchi, Darryl Sydor and Colby Armstrong healthy scratches while dressing Kris Letang and Tyler Kennedy. Letang played 17:08 but was pointless and a minus-1. He played 3:02 on the power play. I can understand these moves. I can't understand how Erik Christensen (three points in 17 games, minus-7) and Ryan Malone (eight points in 19 games) keep dressing and playing the roles that they do. Christensen is supposed to be a sniper and can't hit the broad side of a barn right now. Malone keeps getting ice time with Sid and/or Malkin and has less points than I would have if they put me on that line! Jordan Staal is another guy who needs a wakeup call – two points in 19 games and a minus-8?

Fleury stopped 26 of 28 shots for the win.

Jason Spezza returned to Ottawa's lineup and played with Alfredsson and Heatley. Fisher played with Neil and Robitaille.
