Drew Stafford reinjured his ankle and left last night's contest.
Joffrey Lupul is surprisingly cleared to play and will be in the lineup today. So how much did Lupul bug the guy? "I called him at 2 a.m., I called him at 4 a.m., and when I called him at 6 a.m., he said blank this, go play," Lupul said, laughing.
New Philly lines: Richards with Gagne and Lupul, Briere with Hartnell and Downie
THN is reporting that Kyle Turris will probably join the Coyotes at the end of the season. If they get into the playoffs, his addition will add quite a boost. It's finally starting to feel good to be 'Yotes fan, isn't it? haha
The Coyotes have recalled 32-year-old Pete Vandermeer from the minors the day they signed him. He is just a goon, nothing more and I can't see him even getting the ice time to get more than a five-minute major. He's a stopgap until Carcillo gets recalled (my guess is a week or two).
The Chicago Tribune is reporting that Jonathan Toews is a definite go for tomorrow and he has been activated from the IR.
Martin Erat's back spasms may keep him out of the lineup today.
Alexander Radulov has eight goals in his last eight games and he has 21 points in his last 21 games. He'll have at least 80 points next year and is two years away from flirting with 100. After that, the sky is the limit for this guy.
Ray Emery will get the start for Ottawa today.
Mathieu Garon will get the start today for the Oilers.
Kevin Bieksa is looking to rejoin the Canucks at practice sometime in the next week. He could be back in the lineup in three weeks.
There is a chance that Paul Stastny will not play today. I would roll the dice and keep him active, but he has not yet received medical clearance to play. He is too valuable to sit and 50-50 is good enough for me, your fantasy-hockey risk taker.
Ever since I acquired him in my keeper league, Kristian Huselius is pointless – that's six games. Looking at his game-by-game stats, he is very streaky and when he finally does pick up a point, a lot more will follow.
Miro Satan will be back in the Islanders lineup tonight. He missed one game with a sprained knee.
Injuries don't keep this guy out for long, he is very durable.
Speaking of warriors, Sid the Kid is one. There are some players in this league where if they are out for eight weeks, you are unsurprised if it's four. Marc Savard is one. Martin St. Louis is another. Satan is another. Crosby is another. Sid was back in practice yesterday. He skated for 90 minutes, but did not take contact. He has missed three weeks, it wouldn't surprise me if he's back after missing just five – despite how much the team is playing this down.
Pittsburgh rookie Tyler Kennedy has been sent down to Wilkes/Barre for rehab. He has missed eight games with mono.
Marc-Andre Fleury will likely follow Kennedy.
Ryan Malone may miss the game today because of the imminent birth of his first child.
The Sharks did the goalie shuffle again, sending Thomas Greiss down and calling Dimitri Patzold up.
The Red Wings acquired prospect Francis Lemieux from the Habs yesterday for a career minor-league. Lemieux, 23, is 394th on my fantasy prospects list. I bumped him up a little, thinking that the Red Wings are up to something. His upside is minimal – maybe 60 points. Your league would have to be pretty damn deep to consider him.
JS Aubin cleared waivers and was assigned to Manchester.
Mike Comrie vs. Maxime Talbot. Love the small players fighting:
