The Avs decided not to extend Joel Quenneville's contract, meaning they are in the market for a new coach and Quenneville is available for teams such as the Leafs and Panthers.
Devin Setoguchi will undergo surgery on his left shoulder, and he will also undergo sports hernia surgery. He will be fine for training camp.
Milan Michalek, the victim of a crushing hit from Brenden Morrow (shown below) is fine. He says he just had the wind knocked out of him and his shoulder initially hurt.
Kimmo Timonen has a blood clot in his ankle and will be out for the remainder of the playoffs.
Valterri Filppula was indeed in the lineup last night. Kirk Maltby and Darren Helm were as well, at the expense of Darren McCarty and Aaron Downey as the Wings decided to go with defensive skill over toughness.
Matt Niskanen was a healthy scratch in favor of Mark Fistric. It was Niskanen's first healthy scratch.
Interesting – Marty Turco's record in Detroit is 0-8-2 all time now.
The Panthers signed Keaton Ellerby to an entry-level contract. He will probably not be a huge fantasy factor, topping out at around 40 points, but decent PIMs. He is years away from the NHL in this guy's books.
