Nashville rearguard Ville Koitinen was awarded a one-year deal worth $700K

Because of the Bouchard signing, the Wild are able to buy out contracts for 48 hours and they decided to buy out Mark Parrish, placing him on waivers yesterday.

Tomorrow is decision day (apparently) for Mats Sundin. I'm thinking Vancouver or retirement. He has a good head on his shoulders and he is very grounded, so he may look at the big picture: retirement with lots of money can be fun.

Today's 'Fantasy Spin ' on the Forecaster was written by yours truly. You can access it HERE .

Ottawa re-signed prospect Josh Hennessy to a two-year deal.

The Pens re-signed David Gove and recently acquired Danny Richmond to one-year deals.

Just a quick note to people who may be wondering why a team would buy out a contract at 2/3 of the salary… but won't bring up a player via re-entry waivers and possibly pay half: NHL teams can't do this in the summer. Re-entry waivers don't exist during summer months.
Antoine Vermette's arbitration hearing is tomorrow.

Dobber's Fantasy Hockey Guide 2008-09 will be available for instant download (if you purchase it) in TWO days. Also available in French . This guide will be updated frequently throughout the summer, so you just log back in and download it again as needed.

There is a reason why everyone who bought this last year are buying it again this year!

If you haven't bought it yet, or you "split the cost" with a friend so you can save the big five bucks, keep this in mind: this website is free because of the income that I make from this very guide. It doesn't replace the salary that I made when I quit my day job in Nov/06, but it's close enough to keep this site top-notch (running it isn't free). I don't look for handouts – I want earn your money. So buy the guide – that's how I earn it! I will never give in to the pressure or suggestions that I should make this a pay site, and it is thanks to your support.

I have also been approached about making this a magazine for newsstands – that is how huge this guide is now. But I am very happy with DobberHockey as is, and I won't hurt the quality of information that I give you by putting it into a magazine (not to mention the added headaches, haha). I know from my experiences writing for the SCORE Forecaster and for The Hockey News that those mags are printed in mid-July. I don't want to give you aged information. Online is the wave of the future and that is how I will always be giving you your fantasy hockey tips! UP TO THE MINUTE!

Dobber Nation has grown: DobberBaseball.com is up and running! If you haven't already, I invite you to have a look around, sign up to the baseball forum, and enjoy! Everyone keeps DobberHockey a secret from your fellow poolies… but if you're not in a baseball pool you can tell your baseball buddies about this new site at least!
