The Atlanta Thrashers have acquired defenceman Mathieu Schneider from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for defenceman Ken Klee and forwards Brad Larsen and Chad Painchaud.
What the Thrashers get: An aging, but still effective PP QB. Schneider is a little injury prone, but in the 65 games that he does play he will post a good 45 points in Atlanta. He joins Ron Hainsey and Tobias Enstrom as blueliners capable of running the power play.
What the Ducks get: Some breathing room to sign Teemu Selanne. They clear up just under $4 million in cap space. Klee is a solid and reliable defender.
Fantasy Players impacted: By getting rid of Larson, there is now plenty of room to guarantee Brett Sterling to make this team. He is a virtual lock. Enstrom and Hainsey will battle it out for the other QB spot on the top power play, and frankly my money is on the more consistent Enstrom, leaving Hainsey as a potential bust. But time will tell.
