Blake Wheeler has been very impressive for the Bruins. There is talk he will push Lucic down the depth chart. The Bruins would need to clear some cap space, but could accomplish that by waiving Schaefer and/or trading Axelsson.

Teemu Selanne has re-signed with the Ducks for two years. His cap hit wil be around $2.6 million per season, which is an absolute steal. He will play tonight against the Canucks (streamed live at www.canucks.com).

Luke Richardson has signed a one-year deal with the Senators. He will see limited duty as a depth defenseman.

The Bruins have placed former Avalanche prospect Johnny Boychuck on waivers. They also cut Martin Karsums and Byron Bitz (great name). Both will head to the AHL.

Drew Doughty is more than likely going to make the Kings this season. Their defense is very thin and he will see power play time right off the hop.

The Flyers are trying out a fourth line featuring Riley Cote, Steve Downie, and Arron Asham. That will make for some interesting Flyers games, once again.

Jakub Voracek has been phenomenal so far in the pre-season for the Jackets. The top two lines there look pretty set: Nash-Brassard-Huselius, and Modin-Umberger-Voracek. If Brassard and Voracek can adjust to the NHL game quickly, the Jackets suddenly look like a playoff contender.

Jannik Hansen has all but locked up a roster spot in Vancouver. He scored a goal and assisted on another tonight in the Canucks 3-2 win over the Sharks. He is a speedy winger with some pop, could hit 35 points this season.

Maxim Afinogenov had three assists for the Sabres tonight, and looked pretty effective all game. He is a very good buy-low candidate this season.

The Sabres are going to play Jochen Hecht at center this year, and he will probably see the second line ice time once Tim Connolly goes down with his annual season-ending injury.
