How's this for a big fantasy game? One goal, three assists and plus-5. Shea Weber did that last night.
The Canes will start Michael Leighton tonight.
Frantisek Kaberle has a broken foot and will be on the shelf for at least a couple of weeks.
Andrew Raycroft is getting the Ws, but has yet to really step up. He stopped 26 of 30 shots last night for the win. I think Granato will keep going with him until he loses, but his hold on the starter job is tenuous at best.
Now the Blues have recalled Bishop and sent Schwarz back down – so I was right after all (see below)
The Lightning scratched Radim Vrbata last night. With Ryan Craig close to a return (groin), Vrbata should see even more scratches. Those who held onto him last season are kicking themselves – I myself made several offers for him in the spring that were thankfully declined. Buy low and sell high, and back in February he was "high".
Andrei Kostitsyn left last night's contest with an apparent concussion. This could be trouble, there is no estimating timetables for those.
Sheldon Souray (knee) and Sam Gagner (undisclosed) missed last night's contest.
Lauri Korpikoski was apparently NOT a healthy scratch earlier in the week – he was out with an arm injury.
I was wrong about the Blues recalling Ben Bishop. They in fact recalled Marek Schwarz instead.
Kyle Wellwood has cleared waivers and has been assigned to Manitoba.
Nikita Filatov played just 8:38, getting in some meaningless minutes at the end of their 6-3 loss.
