Under the new coach, Steve Stamkos played 15:10, but saw little time on the power play. I really don't see a new (permanent) coach letting him stay with TB beyond 39 games if he continues his slow production.

How long can Sergei Samsonov play 18 minutes and not get points? I know I keep saying this, but something has to give with this situation. The team is impressed by his talent and they saw his production in the second half last year… but this year he can't do a thing.

According to their pace, Anze Kopitar will lead the Kings with 63 points, with Brown and Frolov second at 53 points. Patrick O'Sullivan will get 35. Common sense tells you that all of the above will improve, so all Kings are 'buy low' players right now.

Michal Handzus has three points in his last 12 games.

The Bruins would rather go with six defensemen than recall Matt Lashoff, who is having a strong AHL season. That is the type of negative impression that Lashoff left on the coaching staff with his poor camp. If you took my advice yesterday and scooped up Lashoff, hang onto him for two games – the B's are an injury away from being forced to recall him.

Joe Pavelski has 16 points in 19 games this season. The 24-year-old is breaking out in his third NHL campaign and he has six points in his last two games. For the last 13 games, he has played at least 18 minutes. That's a huge jump from 14:06 per game last year and he is producing accordingly.

Andy McDonald fractured his leg yesterday. He was having a comeback season, on pace to easily return to the 78- and 85-point form that he showed prior to last season beforet his setback. From STL Today: "Andy has been, to this point in the season, our best player," Blues coach Andy Murray said. This will move Keith Tkachuk back to the middle and Patrik Berglund will see even more ice time. With Tkachuk moving to the middle, David Perron will see more time on the wing. All three should see a mild boost in production, but more importantly Berglund will now continue his strong pace of late. McDonald will probably be out until early January, which is at least 20 games.
