Turns out the Pens recalled John Curry after all. I really like this late-bloomer and in a year or two I think you will hear more from him. The decision was made likely because whoever was recalled would be sitting on the bench, whereas WBS needed their hot starter. So Berkhoel stayed.
Jason Arnott went to the hospital after suffering a neck injury. He was released soon after and he is probably not going to miss any games. Even if he did, the Preds would not recall any player because last time he was out they didn't.
Patric Hornqvist was a healthy scratch, and Rich Peverley seemed to get a few extra minutes in ice time after Arnott got hurt.
Fernando Pisani broke his ankle last night – Erik Cole seemed to pick up the added ice time after that. The injury should put Dustin Penner back in the lineup unless the Oilers decide to recall Rob Schremp. Schremp is leading Springfield in scoring… but strangely does not have a goal in the AHL this season. He had 10 assists in 12 games.
Ilya Zubov played just six minutes last night. Antoine Vermette continues to see 18 minutes a game, but continues to put up goose eggs. Brendan Bell played 13 minutes and manned the point on the second PP unit.
Devin Setoguchi is still going nutty – he has eight points in his last four contests. Last year he was quite streaky, but this year he has had just one big streak – a hot one. He'll be off the Prospects List on December 10 (next update)
With MA Fleury's undisclosed injury (he will probably miss two games…but who knows), the Pens will probably recall Adam Berkhoel from WB/Scranton. Berkhoel has supplanted John Curry as the No.1. I'm a fan of Curry, but his start has been a slow one. Anyway, Dany Sabourin will get the starts and unless Fleury's injury is worse than the team lets on, Berkhoel will not get the chance to see action.
