The trade deadline is quickly approaching which will definitely involve plenty of GM’s in the decision-making process. You, as a fantasy GM have just as many decisions in order to get your team towards the finish line. Hopefully the buzzing this week will make your decision-making process a lot easier.

Maaaasquito Buzzings:

Players with the highest totals in each category who are under 50% owned in Yahoo leagues.

-Corey Perry is hot with 21 points in the past 19 contests. He also has 27 PIMs and a plus six rating along with 34 SOG during that span. He’s one of the best across-the-board wingers to own.

– Bobby Ryan has 21 in the last 23, but only five in the past nine. His SOG/game average has dropped from 3.28 in January to 2.33 in February.

– Teemu Selanne has struggled a bit but still has nine points in the last nine games.

– Rene Bourque has a high-ankle sprain and could be out for two months.

– Craig Conroy has rejoined Jarome Iginla and Mike Cammalleri on the Flames’ top line. He has five assists and is a plus six in February.

– Miikka Kiprusoff is 5-0-2 in his last seven starts and has only allowed only seven goals during that span. He also maintained a .969 SP in those seven contests. He’s certainly making me forget about his awful start this season.

– Martin Havlat has nine points and 24 SOG in the past five games. Dobber’s gonna lose his bet!!!    

– Cristobal Huet is making the best of his chances to showcase himself as a number one goalie as he’s gone 4-1 in his last five starts. He’s only allowed eight goals and has maintained a .937 SP during that span.

– Cam Barker is increasing his importance to the Blackhawks’ lineup. He was upwards of 18 minutes in ice-time before getting injured in Sunday night’s contest against the Wild. It doesn’t appear serious, so he should be back in the next few days.

– Kristian Huselius is starting to pick up his scoring pace as he has eight points in 10 contests.

– As Huselius goes so does Rick Nash, he has 10 points during the same span. What’s interesting is that he seems to be a Saturday killer with 19 points in 17 contests.

– Steve Mason has a 4-1-1 record in his past six starts. His 2.17 gaa and .919 SP still ranks amongst the leaders in the league.

– Wojtek Wolski is heating back up as he has four points in the last four games. He’s also a plus five during that span which makes him a good own for the stretch run of the season.

– Paul Stastny returned to the Avs lineup this week, so owners should be plenty happy.

– Marty Turco has a 1.88 gaa and a .935 SP for the month of February. Which makes my deal earlier this season with Lanky look a lot more respectable.

– Brad Richards looks like he’ll be out for the rest of the season.

– Jere Lehtinen only has one point in the past seven games. He’s still a great pickup if you are looking for a shooting righty. He’s averaging 2.73 SOG/contest in February.

– Marian Hossa is pointless in three contests, but does have nine SOG.

– Ville Leino is still averaging less than 14 minutes per game. He does have four points in the last five contests though.

– Erik Cole looks to be out of Edmonton by the trade deadline, his most likely destination still remains to be Boston.

– Tom Gilbert has six points in the past 11 games. He has the makings of becoming a 45-point defensemen next season.

– Although Dwayne Roloson’s seasonal stats doesn’t looked that impressive, his Saturday record does. He’s 6-1-2 with a 1.98 gaa and a .941 SP in Saturday contests. That’s probably something you’d want to use for your picks, Monkey…

– Anze Kopitar is finding his scoring game with 12 points in 10 February contests. His 33 SOG also makes him a huge asset in fantasy pools. I’d look to acquire him via trade in all formats of fantasy pools.

– Jon Quick still owns a very respectable 5-2-1 record for the month of February, but his numbers have slipped a little. 2.67 and .905 are still very serviceable in fantasy pools.

– Kyle Quincey still proves to be a great find for this season. His 29 assists ranks him tied for 10th in the league amongst defensemen.

– Owen Nolan’s injury plagued season continues. He’s great when he plays but continues to find a plethora of injuries to keep him out of the Wild lineup. This time he’s out with a toe injury.

– P.M. Bouchard continues to roll along this season with eight points in nine contests.  The SOG are still not there though.

– Still no deal for Nik Backstrom… he’ll be gone at the deadline. Pick up Josh Harding ASAP.

–  Pekka Rinne now has five shut outs on the season, he’s two behind the league-leader Steve Mason.

–  Jason Arnott has nine points in 12 games. His 42 SOG during that span still makes him a great own in a non-offensive team.

– Shea Weber snapped his 14-game goal-less drought with a goal on Saturday night. Where has all that offense gone from the beginning of the year?

– Olli Jokinen scored his sixth hat-trick of the season. I’m still 50/50 on whether or not the Coyotes are gonna deal him this year.

– Ilya Bryzgalov as of right now isn’t worth owning in fantasy pools. He has a 3.78 gaa and a .890 SP for the month of February.

– Joakim Lindstrom is gaining plenty of respect from coach Wayne Gretzky as he’s playing on the top-line with Shane Doan and Steve Reinprecht. Lindstrom has four points and 13 SOG in the last four games despite averaging around 15 minutes in ice time.

–  Devin Setoguchi continues to be hot as he’s leading all sophomore players with 25 goals.

– Evgeni Nabokov picked up his fifth shut out of the season. He’s 4-0-0 in his last four starts, and has only allowed five goals during that span and maintained a .955 SP.

– If you can swallow the lack of points, Jon Cheechoo has 24 SOG in 10 February contests. He was re-united with Patrick Marleau and Mike Grier on the Sharks’ third line on Monday night, which might help boost of offensive production during the stretch run of this season.

– After starting the season 3-11-1, Mason has gone 8-5-4 in his last 17 games. During that span, he has a 1.78 gaa and a .934 SP. I wish I kept him in Dobber’s Expert league…

– Brad Boyes has zero points in the past four games despite firing 14 SOG.

– Andy McDonald has seven points in eight games since his return to the Blues’ lineup. In order for them to make a big playoff push, they’ll have to re-unite the big three of Boyes, Tkachuk and McDonald.

– The Sedin’s seem to have found a new linemate in Alex Burrows. He has seven points in the last four games since joining the Sedins on the Canucks’ top-line.

– The RPM line of Mats Sundin, Ryan Kesler and Pavol Demitra have only combined for nine points in the last six contests. Kesler has 18 SOG in the past four contests.

– Roberto Luongo remains undefeated in the month of February despite very mediocre numbers of 2.70 and .919.

Every decision that you make will certainly have results or repercussions, so make sure you are well informed when making decisions instead of jumping into the deep-end without a safety net. Until next week.
