DOBBER'S TRADE LOG

Now ready – a new "comments" feature. At the bottom of every article, feel free to post your comments on it! The DobberHockey revolution continues…

Some Leafs tidbits from Brian Burke, who was on the Fan 590. Burke wants to add as many picks as he can. He claims he hasn't spoken to one single team about Kaberle, but he seemed to tip-toe around that issue. Still negotiating with Moore, who wants a lot more than the Leafs are willing to offer.

The latest from Bob Mckenzie here. The Flyers are pushing hard to clear room to acquire Bouwmeester, and Phoenix is being used as a potential third party to help with some cap issues.

Michael Nylander will be scratched tonight for the fourth straight game. Is a trade in the cards?

The Flames have claimed Lawrence Nycholat off of waivers from the Canucks. Tomorrow is trade deadline day, but today would seem to be waiver day.

Per Darren Dreger on Leafs Lunch, as well as Michael Russo in his "Rants" Blog – the following players have been placed on waivers: Miro Satan, Brendan Morrison, Aaron Voros, Jon Sim, Eric Reitz, Eric Perrin, Gary Roberts, Peter Olvecky, Martin Gerber and Craig Adams.

The Penguins have placed Bill Thomas on waivers.

No surprise here – Sean Avery snuck through waivers to the Rangers. Don't be surprised to see him in the lineup Thursday.

Horrible news for owners of Josh Harding. The Wild have signed Backstrom for four more years.

The Kings have recalled Oscar Moller from Manchester.

The Rangers have sent Mark Bell down to Hartford …perhaps making room for Avery if he sneaks through waivers come noon.

Ryan Smyth continues to produce even with Paul Stastny in the lineup. Given the numbers I gave you last week for Smyth (with and without Stastny in the lineup), it gave the impression that he would slow, but that hasn't happened yet (four points in four games so far).

In the preseason I was predicting that Yann Danis would outplay Joey McDonald for the backup role and that given Rick DiPietro's fragility he may see some starts. Well, it took injuries to both the latter and the former, but now Danis is getting those starts – and he's doing well with them. He has won three of his last four and has bumped his GAA down to 2.37 and SP to  0.928.

Jesse Joensuu, ranked 92 on my fantasy prospects list, was recalled by the Islanders yesterday and he scored a goal in his first NHL game. With Guerin likely gone, Weight out of the lineup and possibly traded and Comrie already moved, Joensuu could stay. I'm not ready to call him a fantasy asset yet – no more than Okposo is this season. He is a power forward who has 75 point upside. If he ever tops 65 points, it will happen in about three to four years.

The streaky Jon Sim has seven points in his last six games. All it took was to get Guerin, Comrie, Weight, Hunter, Park, Sillinger…out of the lineup and Sim gets into the top six! Ditto for Jeff Tambellini, who earned two points last night.

The Stars have returned Ray Sawada to the AHL, due to Ott coming back.

The Red Wings have returned Ville Leino to the AHL and have recalled Jonathan Ericsson. The latter is considered one of the better defensemen not in the NHL, but he has been a victim of the numbers game in Detroit. For that matter, the former is in the same boat except as a forward. Ericsson has 15 points in 40 AHL games and I would not expect a fantasy impact in the NHL right now. The team also recalled Aaron Downey and sent down Darren Helm.
