Martin Havlat is OUT tonight with a groin injury. I’ll be using that one a few more times this season…

PM Bouchard officially has a concussion. I don’t see him returning for a while. The Wild may be forced to make a move for a forward pretty soon (or they could put a claim in on Ebbett).

Phil Kessel is out at least another two-three weeks recovering from shoulder surgery.

Oilers “top” line tonight… Horcoff between Nilsson and Comrie.

Contrary to earlier reports, Thomas Vanek will not play this weekend. His shoulder injury hasn’t recovered as fast as he had hoped.

Dennis Wideman is also out for both weekend games. The Bruins for some reason have bumped him off of the top PP unit in favor of Derek Morris, who is not nearly as good offensively as Wideman. In fact, Morris hasn’t really been good at either end of the ice so far with his new team. This allows Johnny Boychuk to stay in the lineup for at least a few more games.

Mike Van Ryn is out for the season as he has to undergo serious knee surgery. He once had fantasy value back with Florida, but he hasn’t really played that much as a Leaf. Apparently the type of surgery he is getting has a very long recovery period (and may be career threatening).

Theodore is out with back spasms, which is probably good news. Doubtful/questionable for Saturday, but he shouldn’t miss much more than one game. I wonder if Neuvirth will get the call… probably not and just wishful thinking on my part.

Expect Joni Pitkanen to return at some point next week.

The Leafs have sent Tyler Bozak back to the Marlies, as Hagman and Stajan will return to the lineup.

Alex Steen is getting his wrist examined per Andy Strickland. Could be out a few weeks.

WOW. Andrew Ebbett has been placed on waivers. I’ll try and find some confirmation here, but I can’t see him slipping through.

Ales Hemsky is missing the game tonight due to a bad fever. I assume one of O’Sullivan  or Penner gets the promotion to the top line (although Edmonton has really balanced their lines so far this season)

Congrats to Nick Lidstrom for recording his 1000th career NHL point.

Milan Michalek scored a hat-trick in a win for the Sens. Two of his goals were shorties. Who was the last NHL player to have two shorties in one game and get a hat-trick in the process? Free fantasy advice to the person who guesses correctly first.

Brendan Morrison and Mike Knuble are fantasy studs as long as they are skating with Ovechkin. Both recorded two assists on Ovechkin markers.

Phoenix continued their stingy defensive play with a 3-2 OT win over the Blues. The bad news? Less than 7,000 people took the game in.
