Looking at the NHL schedule for week three…


Five games this week: Dallas

Only 15 times this season does a team play five games in seven nights. Dallas is the first team to experience this rare feat, and it's happening at just the right time of the season as the team is coming off a 6-0 thumping of the Predators. Try to grab Jamie Benn on the WW before its too late as he is not only seeing time on the 1st line with Ribeiro and Morrow, but also 1st PP time. The 2nd line of Eriksson, Richards and Neal has been more productive by a slight margin so far but I fully expect the 1st line to carry the team now that Morrow has a few games under his belt.

 

 

Four games this week: Boston, Atlanta, NYI, Vancouver

After only playing one game last week the Canucks are back to playing four games, three against division rivals. With injuries to D. Sedin and Salo, look for the Canucks fate to land in the hands of Roberto Luongo. Last season he started 4-4 before going on a 7-1-2 run. Having started 2-3 it may be another week of average play before Lou comes to life. Ehrhoff will be looked upon to run the PP and should provide owners will solid stats.

 

 

One game this week: Toronto

Most Leaf players would be benched on your roster after a horrible start so this just helps confirm the obvious.

 

I will be the first to admit that the Rangers have surprised me and my prediction of them missing the playoffs may be in jeopardy. Torts has done a great job of giving Del Zotto, Gilroy and Girardi a chance to thrive. Prospal looks to be back to his 80-55 trend and although I don't think he will hit 80 this season, 70+ is in the cards. Lundqvist is the goalie that I avoided in all my drafts this season when it came to tier one goalies (as he disappointed me last season), but has proven me wrong in the first two weeks.

 

 

Lastly, let's see how I did on my predictions from last week.

 

Hornqvist's line: 4GP 0G 1A -3 0PIM 0PPP 9SOG
Nashville had a horrible week and Dumont is the solution on the top line, not Hornqvist.

 

Colorado to win three out of four games: They won the first three games, and the last game is on Saturday against Det.

 

Hejduk's line: 3GP 2G 0A +1 0PIM 1PPP 8SOG
Goals > Assists ; With one game still to play this week

 

Mike Richards's line: yet to play a game
