Dobber’s Puck Daddy article is here. A must-read.

Interesting story here… 51 year old Slava Fetisov is making a return to hockey! He is suiting up for CSKA Moscow.

The Rangers have sent down Matt Gilroy to Hartford. Two points in his past 10 games (and decreasing ice time).

Dan Cleary is out for a few weeks with a separated shoulder. The paper-thin Wings suffer another loss up front…

Follow myself and Dobber on twitter for some quick fantasy tidbits throughout the day! I’ll put all the real good stuff in the ramblings, but if I am out or watching a game I’ll usually toss up a few quick lines there.

Sounds like Alex Goligoski is returning tonight.

“I’ve told every one of my friends to take Yandle in their hockey fantasy pool,” captain Shane Doan said. “He has that innate ability to know when to jump and when not to and you can’t teach it. Me and Doan agree! From the AZ Republic.

Interesting stat: Backstrom is 14-2-2 all-time against Colorado (credit to Michael Russo for this one).”

Great article today on Evander Kane’s Vancouver return.

Here is the link to Byfuglien’s goal. Couldn’t find a youtube of it, but here is the NHL.com video.

Both Stamkos and Malone left last night with injuries.

Ryane Clowe is heating up. After a slow start (pointless through the first seven), he now has a tidy 10 game point streak (tallying 12 points during that stretch). He has a few 70-point seasons in him – he is huge and has a ton of skill with the puck.

Derek Brassard has eight points in his last 10 games. He was pointless in five before then. His season has been very streaky so far – expect it to continue. Hitchcock just has more faith playing Vermette and Umberger in all situations compared to Brassard at this point in his career.

Justin Mercier made his NHL debut for the Avalanche. He was a prolific scorer in college, but has only one point through 24 games with the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL. Not sure what he did to earn the call up… maybe someone can enlighten me.

Jack Johnson had two helpers – if he eventually does become a premier offensive defenseman, it won't be for a while. He got by at lower levels with his speed and skill, but in the NHL he seems to be focusing more on the defensive side of the game.

Nigel Dawes continues his hot start. He scored his 9th of the season last night in Calgary's 3-1 win over Atlanta. A fresh start from NYR/Phoenix has been just what the doctor ordered.

The potent Thrashers have been cold offensively. They have scored only six goals in their past four games. As an owner of many Thrashers, I hope they can stop this slide quickly!

Andy Greene scored twice last night – I have said it before and I'll say it again, he really is making the most of the opportunity presented to him when both Oduya and Martin went on the shelf. Greene also had four shots on goal and played 25 minutes. He's on pace for close to 50 points – pretty solid sleeper season!

Ryan Miller continues his Vezina-caliber play. He was almost toying with the Caps last night, daring them to score on him. If you own him, enjoy it.

Gretzky's office was behind the net. Is Tavares's beside it? It is a move that Darcy Tucker perfected with the Leafs when Sundin used to feed him those sweet cross-seam passes. Only difference is now its Okposo instead of Sundin, and Tavares instead of Tucker. He scored two more last night (in a loss), making that four in his past two games.

Vesa Toskala had his second straight great game for the Buds. There are some rumblings that Gustavsson's heart issue may be more serious than the Leafs are letting on (i.e. career threatening), but that is just speculation at this point. Toskala should see the bulk of the starts regardless of Gustavsson's condition if he keeps this level of play up.

It was a night of shutouts tonight. Ty Conklin blanked the Wings, stopping all 42 shots fired his way. The Blues aren't getting much offensive production, so they'll need a few more donuts to keep the wins coming.

Zenon "the Greek god of penalty minutes" Konopka had 12 more last night.

Nate Gerbe (a favorite of mine) had a great game, scoring a goal, adding a helper, and playing close to 15 minutes.

Jeff Deslauriers is showing why many think he is starter material in the NHL. He had another gem of a game against Tampa, stopping 32 of 34 shots.

Mikael Samuelsson has cooled off lately, tallying only three points in his past eight contests. At one point he was on pace for over 70 points, a number that has subsequently dropped to 55. Expect around 50 for him.

Michael Grabner has been cleared to begin some light skating after breaking his ankle over a month ago. Grabner's injury came at an awful time, as he was starting to show terrific chemistry with Kesler and Raymond on the second line in Vancouver. The line has struggled since Grabner went down, as Samuelsson hasn't really clicked with the speedy duo. Samuelsson is more of a puck possession type of player, while the other three are all pure speedsters who look to create off the rush.

Alex Edler will be out for up to two weeks with a left arm injury (that is about as specific as injury updates get nowadays). Mathieu Schneider will draw back in and see top power play duties alongside Christian Ehrhoff.

Byfuglien had an AMAZING goal last night to win the game in over time for Chicago. I'll post a youtube clip tomorrow once one becomes available.

Toronto is 7-2-1 in their last 10 games. Hell just called, and the sidewalks are getting icy.

I'll update the ramblings around noon EST tomorrow. I also have a great Eric Fehr article on the way.
