Minnesota’s equipment truck caught on fire in Ottawa today, and the team probably won’t be able to play their game tomorrow. I had a good joke for this one, but Minnesota is actually playing some good hockey lately.

Puck Daddy has some awesome jersey fouls up today. Check it out here.

Sounds like Zetterberg will be out for a few weeks with a slight shoudler separation. I’d say that is good news.

Stephane Robidas leads all NHL defensemen with nine goals.

Toronto has recalled Viktor Stalberg and he will play tonight.

Colorado has called up Chris Durno and Brandon Yip. Yip, a college star with Boston Univeristy, has some upside as an offensive forward. He had 20 goals in his senior season.

Some more great stuff from the message boards. Member r22yu reminds us all how badly the Rangers have been doing lately offensively. Henrik Lundqvist’s stats over his last six games: 1.98 GAA with a sparkling .936 save percentage… and five losses.

Hedman missed the game with a sore foot after getting hit with a Kurtis Foster shot in practice on Thursday.

This one was flown RIGHT over my head. Paul Ranger has been out of the Tampa lineup since October 24th dealing with “personal issues.” No one has any idea when he will be back, or why he is even out. Bizarre…

Pekka Rinne was pulled after allowing two quick goals. He was questionable to even start because of the flu, and Dan Ellis was prepared to come in. That preparation showed, as Ellis allowed only one goal in the win.

Oscar Moller was really impressive in Calgary last night. He is a tough little guy – the Flames were running him all night, but he is used to it after playing in the WHL with Chilliwack for a few seasons. He made a great play on the lone LA goal (the first career goal for Corey Elkins).

I must eat a bit of crow for writing off Nigel Dawes. He didn’t show much in either New York or Phoenix, but he is competing hard for the Flames. He has always had the lethal shot, but only this season has been willing to play hard consistently. He is on pace for around 25 goals – don’t be surprised if he hits it.

Ryan Jones has goals in four straight for the Preds. He isn’t playing much, but is making his chances count.

Patric Hornqvist had a great game for the Preds, scoring twice and adding an assist. He had five points in the first four games of the season, and has six in the last three. In between those hot stretches, he had six points in 29 contests. Streaky, but lots of upside, and he is clicking with Arnott and Dumont on the top line right now.

The Oilers have dropped two straight at home after winning five in a row on the road. Jeff Deslauriers looked awful tonight, spitting out rebounds all over the slot.

Drew Doughty was a force all night. He played close to 27 minutes, and fired six shots on goal (and another six that missed the net).

Miikka Kiprusoff is playing out of his mind this season. Sutter’s defensive structure has helped a ton, as the Flames often got involved in chance-trading last season under Mike Keenan. Don’t expect Kipper’s numbers to dip much, he is one of the best in the world.

Derek Boogaard has not scored a goal in 189 consecutive games, after once again failing to produce last night in Montreal. Obviously he has a role as an intimidating force, but come on. He has no place in the NHL – the majority of NHL players simply don't get intimidated, and those that do aren't good enough on a consistent basis to worry about.

Both Mike Green and Shaone Morrison will play tonight in Vancouver after being injured against the Avalanche earlier in the week. Aside from a nasty shiner, Green is no worse for wear from Koci's dirty hit (another missed suspension by Colin "clueless" Campbell). If Green ends up with a serious concussion, you can't tell me Koci gets off with a slap on the wrist like he did here. Sure, in real life result is more important than intent, but drilling a guy from behind should be punishable regardless of whether he gets up fine or sustains an injury.

Would there be any interest in me writing an article about the Industry Experts League that I am in? I would basically go over why certain teams are doing well, why others (mine) aren't, and break down the trades and roster moves up to this point.

Nick Foligno is out for up to two weeks after getting his knee scoped. The Sens are being bitten big time by the injury bug right now, but it sounds like Leclaire will be good to go at some point next week.

Randy Jones didn't play last night in Calgary after experiencing headaches and neck stiffness after being on the receiving end of a Dustin Penner hit a few nights ago. After the game tonight the Kings don't play for eight days. A good time for a team battling injuries, as Smyth, Stoll, Johnson, and Simmonds are all out.

Henrik Zetterberg was absolutely PASTED by Mattias Ohlund last night. Upon first glance it is hard to specify where the injury is – I'll just use the general upper body term. A clip of the hit has been posted at the end of the ramblings today. DobberHockey member 'oasiswings1' had this to say on the message board: "Detroit will be left with just two if its top nine forwards from the 2009 Cup Final" (if Zetterberg indeed is injured). Ouch. The two players are Datsyuk and Holmstrom, by the way.

Nick Lidstrom on the hit, "there was nothing bad with it. Hank was reaching for the puck… Ohlund was just making good contact. He hit him solid too."

Update: According to Mike Babcock, Zetterberg drove himself to get an MRI done. That sounds like good news to me.

An interesting debate from the most recent TSN poll, asking for your choice as the best post-expansion goaltender. While I never saw the likes of Parent, Dryden, or Smith play live, I think Hasek is the best to ever lace them up. I put a large amount of value on peak performance. Sure, both Roy and Brodeur had longevity on their sides compared to Hasek, but no goalie comes close to playing as well as the Dominator did for the Sabres in the mid-to-late 1990s. Who do you like, and why?

Jimmy Howard shutout the Lightning last night, bumping his record to 10-6-1 with a solid 2.40 GAA and a ,915 save percentage. Howard is 6-2 in his last 8 starts.

With Zetterberg out, Bertuzzi and Eaves both saw over 18 minutes of ice time (and both scored as well). Drew Miller played 15 minutes, scoring the other Detroit goal. Those three probably stand to benefit the most with Zetterberg out for what looks like a long time. Detroit is not-so-suddenly paper thin up front and may be forced in to making a move.

In a battle of former LA goalies,  Jason Labarbera outlasted Mathieu Garon in the shootout, as Phoenix won 2-1 over the Blue Jackets. Keith Yandle scored the lone Coyote goal after putting up three points against the Leafs just a night earlier. Yandle still played limited minutes (17:30), but I trust that Tippett will develop him a hell of a lot better than Gretzky would have.

Alex Auld was pulled after allowing three goals on 15 shots. His replacement, Marty Turco, didn’t fair much better. Turco allowed three on 10. Thanks to lombaowski for the heads up.

Ondrej Pavelec kept Atlanta in this, even though he allowed five goals. Dallas easily could have had seven or eight last night. Dallas and Atlanta combined to go 5 for 8 on the power play.

Loui Eriksson managed to have two points while both James Neal and Brad Richards were pointless.

Rich Peverley had three points and is still on pace for 76 points. Does this become a mirage at any point in time? He successes should be great motivation to a number of standout AHL players who are waiting for an opportunity to play a regular shift in the NHL.

It appears Peter Laviolette has taken a liking to Dan Carcillo. Carcillo had an assist last night and played over a minute on the power play. Carcillo is averaging around 10 minutes per game on the season, but has played an average closer to 16 over the past three. Solid short-term option, not even counting his penalty minutes. He did have 14 goals and 24 points in only 57 games with Phoenix two seasons ago.

Maxim Afinogenov has four points in his last two contests, after going five without anything. He is a streaky producer but should end up around 55-65 as long as he continues to see some time with Kovalchuk.

Jamie Benn's production has slowed to a crawl. He scored last night, but even with that goal only has two points in his past eight games.

Sidney Crosby is on pace for 50 goals. It is probably optimistic to expect that total… but what about 45? Over or under?

Patrick O'Sullivan looks absolutely brutal right now for Edmonton. He continued that play last night, going minus-3 against Nashville, pushing his season total to an abysmal minus-16. The only thing colder than that is Edmonton itself. (It is supposed to dip below minus 45 this weekend)! I thought O'Sullivan would be great this year and really mesh well with Hemsky on the top line – he just simply is lacking the drive and willingness to battle to get points. If you don't go to the net or the other tough areas, you won't score. It's pretty simple.

The Rangers responded to Tortorella's verbal abuse, winning handily over the lowly Islanders. Gaborik continues his torrid scoring pace, as he had three points. Even more impressive was Ryan Callahan, who had four points, four shots on goal, and played over 20 minutes. Chris Drury was given a role and excelled – he only played 15 minutes, and over a third of it was on the penalty kill.
