Foster to Edmonton

Fantasy Impact – The Edmonton Oilers have signed defenseman Kurtis Foster to a two-year contract worth $1.8 million per season.
The Oilers get: A one-dimensional offensive defenseman with a huge shot from the back end. Foster thrives on the power play, and he scored eight goals last season with the Lightning. He and Tom Gilbert give Edmonton two solid options on the first power play unit. He also replaces Sheldon Souray a bit with his big shot.
Fantasy Players impacted:
This signing puts the final nail in Souray's coffin as an Oiler. Foster will play the top unit with Gilbert, and the two should complement each other very well. Gilbert skates well and moves the puck very proficiently, and Foster creates space and finds open spots and has a bomb of a shot. This move helps all of Edmonton's offensive forwards. This move bumps Ryan Whitney down the depth chart from an offensive standpoint.
Foster won’t be playing with the kind of talent in Edmonton as he did with Tampa Bay, so expect a modest point decline (somewhere in the high 30’s would be a realistic expectation).
Fantasy Players this helps, in order:
1. Gilbert
2. Foster
3. Ales Hemsky
4. Dustin Pennery
Fantasy Players this hurts, in order:
1. Whitney
