Saturday’s ramblings will be posted at 11AM EST. Sorry for the delay!

Nikita Filatov’s days in Columbus are numbered, in my opinion. He isn’t fitting in, and the Blue Jackets could use him as trade bait for a legitimate top four/five defenseman as the trade deadline approaches.

Is it time to cut bait on Alex Goligoski? Three points in his past 10 and zero in his past six. He’s lost his first unit PP duties to Paul Martin (for now). I’d have a bit of patience with him – most defensemen (especially young ones) are going to have their lows during the season.

Dobber’s THN column on some home-ice performers who are notably weak on the road so far this year. Tomorrow – the Road Warriors. Also, here is his bi-weekly mailbag, posted Wednesday.

David Jones is quickly working his way up on my favorite players list. Massive hit on Ladislav Smid last night – like all of my favorites, he simply gets the game of hockey. Very smart player at both ends of the ice. Injuries have been an issue, though.

I think Jones has the upside to score 30 goals one season (given the right linemates/situation). He is big, pretty quick, and has a nose for the net. He also has a very good shot. Alongside a playmaker like Stastny or a dynamic skater like Duchene is a great situation for any  winger.

The DobberBaseball Prospects Report is out!

I have posted a few new wallpapers over on the hockey forums. Check them all out here.

I have no idea why coaches use the media as a motivational tactic – Ron Wilson comes to mind. These aren't teenagers – are players supposed to be motivated by it?

A solid read on Cody Hodgson's wingman in the AHL – the forgotten Sergei Shirokov.

Kevin Shattenkirk has been playing great hockey for the Avalanche – seven points in 11 games (including a goal last night). He cracked my top 10 keeper league defensemen list in the summer for good reason.

Eberle to Hall… and a goal! You may not hear that a lot this season, but it sure was music to the ears of Edmonton fans last night. Eberle made a phenomnal pass to Hall back-door to win the game with 30 ticks on the clock.

Colorado (who played the night before in Vancouver) looked sluggish all night.

Happy Thanksgiving to our American readers.

Don’t forget to set your lineups – the games start early today!
