Dobber – Okee dokes…I’ll just take my day off on another day LOL! Now it looks like Mike Richards to Los Angeles for Schenn, Simmonds, and???? To be confirmed…

Dobber – Carter was indeed traded. To Columbus! Carter to Columbus for Jakub Voracek and a first- and a third-round draft pick. Analysis to come…

Dobber – “LIKE” us on Facebook, win a pair of Oakley’s. Nuff said.

Dobber – the ‘security’ issue in the shop has been fixed. You can buy my awesome stuff again without being afraid! ;)

Also – a rumor that is being laughed at on Twitter, due to the strange source – Nazem Kadri for Jeff Carter.

Darren Dreger reporting that the Sharks are interested in Robyn Regehr, and that Calgary appears set to make a major move. The Flames have a ton of bad contracts, but next summer things start to open up. Regehr is a fantastic shut down defensemen – mobility isn’t great but there are few stronger players in the league.

He’d be a huge addition to what was an inconsistent and soft San Jose back end (not counting Douglas Murray). Ales Hemsky, a common victim of Regehr’s aggression, must be excited at the possibility of this trade happening.

Draft day mailbag is open! Taking questions today, and will answer them tomorrow.

Dobber here with two notes – 1) Matt Bugg and Justin Goldman are both hoping to do another chat today. Bugg is shooting for 1pm ET and Goldman is shooting for 2pm ET, but both depend on their flights (they are off to Minny for the draft). 2) In the shop if you purchase the Prospects Report, a warning pops up. This is my ignorance fault. I let it expire – I didn’t even know such a thing expired. Anyway, I’m working to get that renewed. You can just ignore that flag, and sorry if I caused any alarm.

After an abysmal first 25 games (seven points, minus-21), Simon Gagne ended up putting together a very good season in Tampa Bay. In his final 38 games, Gagne had 14 goals and 33 points. He added 12 points in 15 playoff games.

If I was a GM looking to add a depth scorer, Gagne would be my choice over the likes of Tanguay/Laich/Fleischmann/Leino, even with his injury history.

Rumors are swirling regarding Colorado moving Paul Stastny? Aside from being slightly overpaid, why would Colorado move him? His dad voiced concern over the Stewart/Shattenkirk for Johnson trade, but that should hardly be reason to move a borderline top line center away.

📢 advertisement:

Stastny and Duchene complement each other well – Stastny is steady, creative, and solid in both zones. Duchene is more flashy and more of a pure scorer, and he relies on his speed more. I don't see Colorado having much interest in a package of prospects and futures for Stastny. Is that just me?

Some more rumors – that time of year. The Devils are apparently interested in Brent Burns. The Devils, perhaps more than any other NHL team (aside from Columbus), need a puck moving defenseman. Burns would be a fantastic fit there. He's no slouch in his own zone, either. I don't see Minnesota moving him, unless they can get a legitimate winger to play with Koivu on the top line. Hmm….

Michael Russo later stated that the Parise-Burns trade talks never really materialized, and that both sides are moving on.

Made my first trade of the summer yesterday – moved Justin Williams out for Steve Ott in a H2H keeper that counts all standard categories plus FOW and HITS. Ott was the ninth most valuable center in our league based off of my formula. Williams is a solid 25-30 goal winger with decent SOG numbers, but injury history scares me.

Even if Ott stays at 35 points (I see him getting more with increased offensive responsibilities), he brings a ton of value through his PIM, HITS, and FOW. He’s my fourth center right now behind Crosby/Lecavalier/Koivu the younger. Probably going to cut Mike Fisher.

Some major changes coming in 2012-13 regarding NHL divisional realignment? Bring back the Wales/Campbell Conferences!

Is Keith Yandle a potential offer sheet target? He should be. I'd gladly give up multiple picks – franchise defensemen with PPG potential don't exactly grow on trees. I wonder if a rich, big market team gives Yandle a frontloaded offer sheet knowing Bettman Phoenix would struggle to match?

Some draft musings – favorite player from the draft class is Ryan Murphy. He's a bit of a boom or bust, but his upside is absolutely incredible. Has a dynamic offensive quality I haven't seen in a defensive prospect since I have been following the game.

Ryan Strome is my pick to pull a Jeff Skinner (a non top three pick who steps in to the NHL and makes an impact). Strome skates and handles the puck like Tyler Seguin. He's a bit more slight – most expect him to return to the OHL for at least one more year. If he goes to Ottawa or New Jersey, I could see him making the jump with a strong camp.
