Danny Paille strikes again.

I like what Thornton does with his 6:27 of ice time – two shots, four hits and a blocked shot. The guy is sitting on the bench, hungry and willing to do anything.

Nathan Horton saw just 13 minutes of ice time – I’m thinking his shoulder is hurting. A lot. #Playoffs

Speaking of Horton, here is a random stat I saw on Twitter – since Aaron Rome took out Horton, Vancouver is 2-12 in the postseason.

*

And speaking of playing hurt – Jonathan Toews is obviously playing hurt. And was his hand wrapped in ice at one point? Cameras just flashed on it briefly. Despite the pain, he had five shots on goal. That being said, Toews has 11 points in his last 25 games.

Ben Smith was in the lineup because Marian Hossa was a late scratch. Hossa possibly has a sprained, broken or torn body part. Allegedly. #Playoffs

Still not officially announced yet – the Rangers deal with Alain Vigneault. Several sources, mostly TSN, report that the guy is getting a five-year deal worth around $10 million. Hey – they don’t cap the staff, so if I’m a rich team I go out and get the best money can buy. From scouting, on up.

*

Also not done – a Mark Streit deal with the Flyers. It’s done in principle, for four years and $21 million. But the Flyers need to clear cap space before it can be signed.

Nice reaction to my ramblings yesterday. I thought they sucked, but some of you didn’t, so I’m pleased. I guess it’s because the season is over so the available content isn’t the same as January through May. Looks like I have to adjust to that again…until mid-September. But hey, anything beats the ‘lockout’ ramblings. Remember those?

*

The Red Wings are reportedly close to coming to terms with Pavel Datsyuk on a multi-year contract extension.

*

My THN column yesterday was the offseason look for Detroit and Dallas.

*

Rossy put up another good ramblings yesterday over at DobberProspects. Covering the Draft, of course.

Cristopher Nilstorp has signed a one-year contract with the Stars. It’s a two-way deal – but that’s his own fault. If he was even ‘average’, he could have gone to free agency and gotten a one-way contract to be somebody’s backup. The 29-year-old was 1-3-1 with a 0.897 SV%.

*

Marco Scandella signed a two-year contract with the Wild. Get Scandella’s profile here. He was an offensive defenseman in the Q, but as a pro he’s lost offensive standing to Suter, Brodin and Spurgeon. I don’t believe he’ll ever be more than a 30-point guy.

*

Per Elliotte FreidmanJonathan Bernier has switched agents to Pat Brisson. Brisson is also the agent for Mark Streit and Claude Giroux. Hmmmm…

Oh, and also the Flyers will probably buy out Ilya Bryzgalov. Hmmmm…

*

The Ottawa Senators are renaming their arena the Dobber Sports Centre.

I’m sorry? Oh. Apparently I was outbid. Canadian Tire Centre, then. I knew I should have thrown in a free guide.

*

Oh boy I wish they let this go – Zdeno Chara threw the 6-4, 233-pound Bryan Bickell to the ice like he was Marty St. Louis. But then he got up…and that could have been interesting.
