The Tyler Seguin deal is already paying off for Jamie Benn and the Dallas Stars.

The time to start making a move in your league is now. The feel out process is over as the dog days and holidays approach. This week features a few new additions and several new wrinkles to keep an eye on. If you are willing to take some risks, then maybe parts of these line combinations could be just right for you. Let's go "Between The Lines".

Lead Us Forwards……

Jamie Benn-Tyler Seguin-Valeri Nichushkin (Dallas) — There was that night where Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin lit up the hockey world to the tune of 11 points (14 overall). It was fun to watch as the duo keeps getting better and seven points each should not be that much of a surprise. Add in the power forward in Valeri Nichushkin and this line has the makings of something very special. Seguin led all scorers with five goals, including four in that torching of the Calgary Flames. The coming weeks will be filled with nights of outbursts like this.

Travis Zajac-Jaromir Jagr-Dainius Zubrus (New Jersey) — This line combination was formed a couple weeks ago in the wake of the Patrik Elias injury. Their line frequency is off the charts at 56.3% even strength but 0% on the power play. There just seems to be a chemistry that has been sorely missing from anything in the Devils top six. What I noticed is that the opposition does not quite respect this line yet as they continually match offensive strength to strength. When you see a checking line against the Zajac line, then you will know.

Logan Couture-Joe Thornton-Joe Pavelski-Patrick Marleau (San Jose) — Those power play combinations with the four forward look do not always work. However, in San Jose it hits more than it misses. All four forwards had at least four points as they broke the double digit mark when together. The chemistry clearly is special considering the two old and two younger guys. They mesh well and just watch the passing that creates the quality chances. Everyone knows where everyone else is on the ice. That is the key when it comes down to it. While San Jose may be a bit erratic at times, this line is usually pretty consistent.

Johan Franzen-Darren Helm-Tomas Tatar (Detroit) — Here is a line that is mule driven. It is clear that when Johan Franzen is healthy, he can be a force. That was evident with his five-point week but Tomas Tatar and Darren Helm added a nice dynamic in allowing Franzen to be a force in those scoring areas. It is vital that a second line develops and flourishes in Detroit for obvious reasons. What will happen in Week 8? It really depends on the health of Franzen.

Defend This……

Jay Bouwmeester-Alex Pietrangelo (St. Louis) — This is a pairing that has connected well since the trade that sent Bouwmeester to St. Louis. This week they had eight points when paired on the ice. Their two way game has also buoyed the Blues to one of the best records in the West. The assists and power play points flowed freely in the last couple weeks and this is the type of combination that you should own at least one of. The only weakness may be the fact that Bouwmeester does not really block a lot of shots or hit a ton.

Brian Campbell-Tom Gilbert (Florida) — Hello unlikely pairing alert ladies and gentlemen! Do you mean to tell me Tom Gilbert had three points in a night? Yes this did actually happen and no you were not dreaming. These are things you should not expect all the time but Campbell and Gilbert will get their points. The problem is defensively things can get rather dicey. That being said they play (47.9% EV and PP). I do not think I have ever seen a similar frequency in the last couple seasons. They are at least a pair to keep an eye on in coming weeks.

Karl Alzner-John Carlson (Washington) — With the injury to Mike Green, it just seemed natural for John Carlson to ascend to the number one defensive position. That means he gets the extra power play and penalty kill time. The longer Green is out the more this benefits Carlson and Alzner fantasy wise, so these five point weeks may happen more often than not. Week 8 will feature one key, can the power play continue to click for the Capitals? That will tell the fantasy tale.
