I arrived home from the game at the ACC on Saturday night to find the power out. I didn't think anything of it until I got up the next morning to a freezing house. I'm  in Pickering, which pretty much got the worst of the ice storm in Ontario. So after dragging the wife and two young daughters to the in-laws in Toronto where there was heat (and hot food), within an hour of arriving we lost power there too! Thankfully we wolfed down a hot meal before it happened. So we went back to our Plan A – Christmas at my parents in Niagara Falls, since they got their power back (we had initially cancelled).

Anyway, that's the roundabout way of explaining that the ramblings are short and the player names won't be linked (since I'm not on my computer). The ice in Pickering was pretty bad – it took me 20 minutes to get enough ice off my trunk that I could finally open it! But I’m very thankful nothing crazy happened around my house, like trees or wires falling.

With six points in his last eight games, Benoit Pouliot is on my radar. Amato mentioned it Saturday, and I'm inclined to agree after looking at his rising ice time and the fact that he gets some power play shifts. He also had six hits and four SOG last night.

Derick Brassard has 11 points in his last 16 games, slowly shaking himself out of his doldrums.

Alex Steen is having the season of his life, but the moment we expected has finally arrived – the injury. Or at least "an" injury. This upper body injury sounds like it's minor, so another injury later in the year is certainly a possibility. The Blues called up Dmitrij Jaskin, who has 17 points in 20 games for AHL's Chicago Wolves. Jaskin could be a keeper-league must-own as early as this summer. He's certainly adapting well to the pro game.

Seth Jones is expected to play tonight despite suffering a cut just above his left eye.

Boston Bruins injury updates – Brad Marchand is apparently looking pretty good to play tonight against Nashville after being banged up Saturday. I find that he's a pretty hard guy to knock out of the lineup.

Loui Eriksson's concussion is more serious than I thought. He now feels better enough to be around his teammates? Is that the stage he's at? Scary

Sergei Gonchar is "out for awhile" with what looks to be a concussion. He's having a terrible season, but he's actually been pretty good of late with eight points in eight games prior to the injury. Alex Goligoski will obviously absorb his minutes, and he played 32 minutes Saturday and picked up an assist. The Stars will be leaning on him so much that if he can't turn things around with this opportunity – nothing will.

This should also keep Kevin Connauton in the lineup, and the rookie has two points in his last four games.

Damien Brunner is out for a month with his knee injury, which is terrible timing because he had five points in four games – finally heating up again. The timing is doubly bad, when it comes to my own league. I was very patient with him, finally dropping him about two weeks ago. Then he went on this hot run, and then Friday night I won my waiver wire bid on him.

Not impressed with 24/7 so far, and won't be going out of my way to watch anymore of them. Mostly boring, parts of it are interesting, but the show lacks a Bryzgalov or an Avery type of player. I mean…stuck toast?

And the one topic that would have been most interesting to me – listening in on a suspension call between the NHL and Dion Phaneuf/ Dave Nonis/ etc – wasn't shown. The NHL practically begged HBO to do this, and then still keeps secrets. Dumb.

Roberto Luongo left the game in the first period with an injury to his right leg. Doesn't look too serious (from an Olympics standpoint, anyway):
