Top Budget Plays
Centers
Kyle Chipchura $2,500 –Yes this is really crazy but he did play a whopping 22+ minutes on the first line because basically there is not much of anyone left. Arizona did snap a ten game losing streak despite blowing a 2-0 lead. The expectations are not much but if Chipchura can just squeeze out something for your team then the minimum is money well spent so you can load up other places.
Wingers
Since we saved some money on the budget plays let's look at the few of the pricey options that are worth paying up for today.
Centers
Joe Pavelski $8,000–Someone just loves playing Vancouver and that guy would be Joe Pavelski. It is not just that, however, as the center has a whopping 17 power play goals and the Canucks have some woeful penalty kill numbers on the road against the West. After all, when you get right down to this, Pavelski is the most prolific center that San Jose has. He really does do a little of everything and even averages 1.1 blocked shots per game. Name a pivot that does that. Yes I thought so!
Wingers
Max Pacioretty $8,400 –You have to think with Pacioretty, he is going to get in the range of 4-5 points for daily a night and that is just fine. He has been remarkably consistent of late actually topping out near five points a night over the last ten games. People in daily fantasy love bottom line production. Basically it is a way of saying what can you give me tonight. Pacioretty finds a way to deliver even when it is totally unexpected. That is why he comes so recommended and also why his price stays so high now because whenever it does dip, people pounce on that fast!
Defensemen
Roman Josi$6,100 –This is where I try to spend and DraftKings still saves me some money anyway. Why not at this point right? Josi gets steady production…again right around four or five daily points almost every time out lately. It is not the flashy play but these are the glue daily guys you need when one or two others flame out and give you little or nothing. His blocked shots and shots on goal sure does make it easy and that price tag just keeps on bringing you back. Why would you spend up for less? That just does not make sense at all!
Goalie
Pekka Rinne$8,600 –The price is not great but if you have the money then let the spending begin! Rinne is in a big spot and at least worth the money to start as even the other low expense goalie have varying degrees of risk associated with them. Though the struggle has been real for Rinne over the last several starts, Winnipeg should be a nice help hopefully to a struggling Nashville team. Maybe this is the kick in the pants this team and Rinne needs. They better hope so and DFS owners too.
