Cheap Players for Daily Fantasy Hockey: November 28, 2015

Why Tarasenko makes a great play and other options for filling out your Daily Fantasy lineup.

Top Budget Plays

Centers

Melker Karlsson $3,800 – Between William and Melker and Erik, there are a lot of Karlsson’s in the league, isn’t there? This Karlsson is still playing with the “two Joes” (Pavelski and Thornton) and until Logan Couture comes back, he will see some decent power-play time also. His price will start creeping up. On a twelve-game slate, there are more centers as this is the deepest daily fantasy position. Karlsson just represents the best projected pivot play here.

Wingers

Shane Prince $2,600 – Yes the Ottawa Senators have temporarily vaulted Prince back up into the top six and he responded with a two-goal effort on Wednesday night against the Colorado Avalanche. His price is still very low and if he even sees 5-on-5 time with one of the top two lines that will simply mean more and more chances. It is better than him serving the fourth line blues.

Defensemen

David Savard $3,600 – Please note that this is kind of out of desperation. Savard will not get you a ton of points but at his price point, a few blocks and shots may be all you need. He can usually average a couple of each and if he manages to get an assist, that would be a bonus. With injuries to a couple Columbus defensemen, Savard will keep seeing an increased amount of ice time. There are few values out there in the evening slate to be honest.

Goalie

Mike Condon $7,500 – So Carey Price is injured once again and it was something that could be arguably seen coming. That will make some Montreal fans angry but so be it. The key is how does the goalie fair this time. Teams have seen him and have a little video obviously. This will also be a back end of back to backs scenario but the reality is now. The Canadiens will be more tested and that will mean more chances to gain more daily points.

Since we saved some money on the budget plays let’s look at the few of the pricey options that are worth paying up for today.

Evgeni Malkin $7,300 – With the Oilers coming to town, Malkin is probably licking his chops right now at the prospect of facing one of the worst five defensive teams in the league. Though Sidney Crosby finally took some heat off himself with a two-goal effort, Malkin will likely draw the best matchup and avoid the Oilers top defensive pairing. Some will argue Edmonton turned a bit of a corner against Washington but few will buy it here.

Wingers

Vladimir Tarasenko $7,800 – Tarasenko is just one dangerous sniper and can strike very much like how Alex Ovechkin can. This is the perfect time to pounce on the forward who has come a hair down in pricing and is going to be dangerous against a low ranked penalty kill. It would be smart to find a stack here to play especially on the evening slate.

Defenseman

Erik Karlsson $7,300 – Karlsson draws an Arizona team that will give up some goals against a more wide-open team. Ottawa qualifies as such. After all, they allow 35 shots a game per 60 which is among the league worst. The defenseman went from zero goals to five faster than a sprinter could run the 100 meter dash. Ottawa will need that as again they often have to get into these up and down high event games. It is as if they really do not have a choice. Honestly they do not know better.

Goalie

Jake Allen $7,600 – This is now the job of Mr. Allen until further notice. Allen has had quite the season, including an extended shutout streak. He is 10-4-2 currently with a 2.10 GAA and .928 save percentage.
