The Leafs signed Antropov. The deal is for two years and it is worth OVER $4 million. Hmmm. Not knocking his talent. In fact, I think Antropov is more talented than most fans. However, why pay a guy who will only play 50 games for you per season? I don't understand it. Maybe the Leafs think this will be the year he plays over 70. Good luck with that. 

I think I missed this last week: Kenndal McArdle signed an entry level deal with the Panthers. He's a ways from being ready… 

Nik Antropov is reportedly seeking $2 million per season. That translates to about $4 million per season, when you calculate that he really only plays about half a season. What a Band-Aid Boy. Anyway, the Leafs are balking. Meanwhile, the Star is reporting that the team is close to signing Sundin to an extension – two years $11.5 million. 

I never thought I would see this day: Alexei Yashin is an unrestricted free agent. That's right, the Islanders bought out his 500-year contract. Wow – it will be interesting to see how well he does on another team. It would not surprise me to see the baby go back to Russia. If you have him, best to trade him off and be safe. 

The Avs are reportedly interested in bringing back Chris Drury.

Chris Kunitz will still be a game time decision.

The Blackhawks signed 33-year-old Swedish defenseman Magnus Johansson out of the SEL. At 33, he won't be coming over here to play in the AHL, that's for sure. He is an offensive rearguard and 30 or even 35 points would not surprise me.

A source in Colorado is saying that Chris Stewart is more of a favorite to win a spot than T.J. Hensick. I still think it will be Hensick.

Andrew Cogliano is reportedly in great shape attending the Oilers' development camp. Also there, but in rehab, is Ryan O'Marra. O'Marra missed the OHL playoffs after tearing meniscus in his knee.

The Anaheim Ducks beat other teams, including the Oilers, to Jonas Hiller, signing the undrafted goaltender who turned countless heads with his play at the world championship this spring. He signed a one-year contract. Hiller has spent the last three seasons in net for HC Davos of the Swiss League. No team is better than the Ducks at signing undrafted players.
