Geek of The Week: Banger Additions For Your Fantasy Playoffs

Hello and welcome back to Geek of the Week! Hits, blocks, and penalty minutes will be the topic of today's article. I'll be highlighting some multicategory studs that you should consider rostering in your banger leagues for the fantasy playoffs. If you need some help in these categories, here are three players that have upped their stats in these categories of late.

The Stats provided are per game averages over the season and do not include this Sunday's games.

Martin Pospisil – 5% Rostered – 0.15 G, 0.21 A, 0.35 P, 1.69 SOG, 3.73 Hits, 0.42 BLK, 1.63 PIM

After mentioning Pospisil as one last "buy-low" candidate or waiver add two weeks ago, he has rewarded those who have picked him up with 0.5 points per game, playing in the top 6 with Nazem Kadri and Jonathan Huberdeau lately. He has also picked up 4.25 Hits per game and a whopping 5.75 PIM per game. Take the PIM with a grain of salt as 17 PIM came from one game, which he earned a three-game suspension as well.

Pospisil has proven that he can play an offensive role in the top 6 with elite playmakers. If you need help in Hits and PIM, Pospisil is your guy. He should be counted on for 3-6 hits per game and some PIM for the fantasy playoffs while providing some offensive production. He could also secure that PIM category for you with a major or misconduct.

Cam York – 11% Rostered – 0.13 G, 0.26 A, 0.40 P, 1.47 SOG, 0.93 Hits, 2.06 BLK, 0.56 PIM

Averaging just 22 minutes per game on the season, Cam York has seen an increased role of late, averaging 24:41 TOI over the past two weeks. York always had offensive potential, but it hasn't come to fruition for the Flyers yet. Well, it looks like his breakout has arrived with the increase in opportunity. Over his last 10 games, York has picked up 3 Goals and 6 Assists, with one on the power play. His offensive uptick warrants a waiver wire add in most leagues itself, but he also provides peripheral value.

In the last month, he leads the league in BLKs, while averaging an impressive 3.38 per game. With his increased role, he has taken plenty of minor penalties as well, averaging 0.77 PIM per game. He also does not shy away from hitting, with a respectable 1.15 hits per game over the past month. At this point in the season, grabbing an offensive defenseman for your team that can make a huge difference in peripheral categories is extremely rare. Grab York while you can If you are thin on D and would appreciate the blocks.

Sam Bennett – 31% Rostered – 0.29 G, 0.31 A, 0.60 P, 2.51 SOG, 2.42 Hits, 0.65 BLK, 1.58 PIM

Sam Bennett is likely already owned if you're in a multicategory league. But since he is only 31% rostered on Yahoo, I need to bring him up. If he is not owned and your multicategory league counts hits and/or PIM, please go pick him up now.

Bennett is secure in his top 6 role. Over the past month, he has upped his points, hits and shots. He has picked up 5 Goals and 5 Assists with 3 PPPs in his last 13 games. In this span, he is leading the Florida Panthers with 3.54 SOG/GP and is picking up an average of 3 Hits and 1.54 PIM per game. This sort of multicategory coverage is rare from a guy who can score 30 goals and 60 points in a season. Bennett will provide many fantasy managers multicategory success in the coming fantasy playoffs.

Hope you enjoyed! See you next week.
