The Wild West – 20-Goal Scorers per Western Team

Grant Campbell

2025-07-21

This week, we will examine each team in the West to assess the overall quality of their offensive production.

Teams that have five or six players who score 20 goals or more would be considered deep, in my opinion. Teams that rely on two or three players run the risk of having their offense dry up.

Anaheim Ducks – Seven (Team High: 22 goals)

No current Duck had more than 22 goals in 2024-25, but seven players had more than 20.

Chris Kreider – 22 (68 games)

Mikael Granlund – 22 (83)

Mason McTavish – 22 (76)

Frank Vatrano – 21 (81)

Troy Terry – 21 (77)

Leo Carlsson – 20 (76)

Cutter Gauthier – 20 (82)

Alex Killorn – 19 (82)

This is what makes the Ducks a very intriguing team entering into 2025-26 and beyond. They have significant scoring depth, which should include Beckett Sennecke in a year or two.

I don't think they need to sacrifice trading one of their young defenders, and it's why they felt they could trade Trevor Zegras.

Calgary Flames – Three (35)

📢 advertisement:

Nazem Kadri – 35 (82)

Jonathan Huberdeau – 28 (81)

Matt Coronato – 24 (77)

In addition to these three, Yegor Sharangovich (17/73), Blake Coleman (15/82), Mikael Backlund (15/76), Morgan Frost (14/81), Joel Farabee (11/81) and Connor Zary (13/54) are all quite capable of hitting 20 in 2025-26.

Chicago Blackhawks – Four (31)

Ryan Donato – 31 (80)

Tyler Bertuzzi – 23 (82)

Connor Bedard – 23 (82)

Ilya Mikheyev – 20 (80)

Other potential players hitting 20 in 2025-26 are Teuvo Teravainen (15/82), Frank Nazar (12/53), Andre Burakovsky (10/79), and Lukas Reichel (8/70).

Prospects who could get there in a year or two are Anton Frondell, Oliver Moore and Nick Lardis.

Colorado Avalanche – Six (32)

Nathan MacKinnon – 32 (79)

Cale Makar – 30 (80)

Martin Necas – 27 (79)

📢 advertisement:

Artturi Lehkonen – 27 (69)

Brock Nelson – 26 (80)

Valeri Nichushkin – 21 (43)

Colorado lacks a little depth, as perhaps Ross Colton (16/61) could get there in 2025-26, but that is probably it on this roster.

Dallas Stars – Five (35)

Jason Robertson – 35 (82)

Wyatt Johnston – 33 (82)

Mikko Rantanen – 32 (82)

Matt Duchene – 30 (82)

Roope Hintz – 28 (76)

Not only do the Stars have five players capable of 20 goals, but four of them had 30 or more in 2024-25, and I'd say that all five are capable of 40 goals or more.

Other players capable in 2025-26 are Jamie Benn (16/80), Mavrik Bourque (11/73) and Tyler Seguin (9/20).

Edmonton Oilers – Four (52)

Leon Draisaitl – 52 (71)

Zach Hyman – 27 (73)

Connor McDavid – 26 (67)

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins – 20 (78)

Edmonton is a little top-heavy on offense, which is no secret and has been the case for a few years now.

The only other players capable of hitting 20 goals are Andrew Mangiapane (14/81), Evan Bouchard (14/82), Adam Henrique (12/81) and Trent Frederic (8/58).

Los Angeles Kings – Five (35)

Kevin Fiala – 35 (81)

Adrian Kempe – 35 (81)

Warren Foegele – 24 (82)

Quinton Byfield – 23 (81)

Anze Kopitar – 21 (81)

The Kings have Corey Perry (19/81), Alex Laferriere (19/77), Trevor Moore (18/71) and Andrei Kuzmenko (11/66) who could reach 20 goals next year.

Los Angeles is deep and spread out on offense.

Minnesota Wild – Three (27)

Matt Boldy – 27 (82)

Kirill Kaprizov – 25 (41)

Marco Rossi – 24 (82)

There are heavy rumors that the Wild are looking to move on from Rossi, which would take away a 20-goal scorer.

The other players capable are Mats Zuccarello (19/69), Marcus Foligno (14/77), Joel Eriksson Ek (14/46), Ryan Hartman (11/69) and Vladimir Tarasenko (11/80).

Eriksson Ek should score 25-30 goals if healthy.

When Kaprizov and Eriksson Ek miss 41 and 36 games each, it shows how difficult it is for this team to score goals.

Nashville Predators – Four (31)

Filip Forsberg – 31 (82)

Steven Stamkos – 27 (82)

Ryan O'Reilly – 21 (79)

Jonathan Marchessault – 21 (78)

Stamkos and Marchessault were both brought in to score more than 48 goals combined. The Predators will look for 60-plus in 2025-26 from these two.

Others capable are Michael Bunting (19/76), Erik Haula (11/69), Luke Evangelista (10/68), and Fedor Svechkov (8/52).

The reliance on Stamkos to improve on his 27 goals is large.

San Jose Sharks – Two (30)

Tyler Toffoli – 30 (78)

Macklin Celebrini – 25 (70)

Will Smith (18/74), William Eklund (17/77) and Jeff Skinner (16/72) could all get there as well.

Adam Gaudette (19/81) is probably a stretch to hit 20 as he had a 20.9 shooting percentage in 2024-25 with Ottawa.

Michael Misa could be a candidate in a year or two.

Seattle Kraken – Five (26)

Jaden Schwartz – 26 (81)

Eeli Tolvanen – 23 (81)

Mason Marchment – 22 (62)

Jared McCann – 22 (82)

Matty Beniers – 20 (82)

The Kraken have a few others who could certainly reach 20 goals in Shane Wright (19/79), Frederick Gaudreau (18/82), Brandon Montour (18/81), Kaapo Kakko (14/79), Chandler Stephenson (13/78), and Jordan Eberle (9/42).

Montour is a stretch to get there, while Stephenson has only scored 20 goals once, and Gaudreau has a career-high of 19, with Kakko at 18.

St. Louis Blues – Six (36)

Jordan Kyrou – 36 (82)

Dylan Holloway – 26 (77)

Pius Suter – 25 (81)

Jake Neighbours – 22 (82)

Robert Thomas – 21 (70)

Pavel Buchnevich – 20 (76)

The only other skaters with a shot at 20 are Brayden Schenn (18/82), Jimmy Snuggerud (1/7) and Dalibor Dvorsky (0/2).

Schenn has scored 20 or more goals eight times in his career and has a career-high of 28 in 2017-18.

Snuggerud is likely to get the first shot at 20 over Dvorsky in 2025-26.

Utah Mammoth – Six (30)

Clayton Keller – 30 (81)

Dylan Guenther – 27 (70)

JJ Peterka – 27 (77)

Logan Cooley – 25 (75)

Barrett Hayton – 20 (82)

Nick Schmaltz – 20 (82)

Others with a shot in 2025-26 on the Mammoth are Jack McBain (13/82) and Lawson Crouse (12/81), but both are long-shots.

The Utah forwards producing are very young and this team should be exciting in 2025-26 and have a shot at making the playoffs in my mind.

Vancouver Canucks – Two (28)

Jake DeBrusk – 28 (82)

Brock Boeser – 25 (75)

Others that can get to 20 are Conor Garland (19/81), Kiefer Sherwood (19/78), Quinn Hughes (16/68), Elias Pettersson (15/64), Filip Chytil (13/56), Jonathan Lekkerimaki (3/24) and Evander Kane (0/0).

We can see why the Canucks re-signed Boeser, as his absence, along with Pius Suter, would have left them with a much bigger hole.

If Pettersson doesn't score 20 goals in 2025-26, it will be another disastrous campaign for him.

Garland should score 20, but every other player has an outside chance of getting there and will need everything to go right for them.

Scoring might be an issue for Vancouver, and if so, it will put even more pressure on Pettersson.

Vegas Golden Knights – Six (35)

Pavel Dorofeyev – 35 (82)

Tomas Hertl – 32 (73)

Jack Eichel – 28 (77)

Mitch Marner – 27 (81)

Brett Howden – 23 (80)

Ivan Barbashev – 23 (70)

Players who could get to 20 are Mark Stone (19/66), Brandon Saad (13/72), Reilly Smith (13/79), and William Karlsson (9/53).

Stone might need to play more than 70 games to get there, while Saad has scored 20 or more goals seven times in his career, with the most recent being 26 goals in 2023-24. Reilly Smith scored 26 goals in 2022-23, while Karlsson had 30 goals in 2023-24.

Winnipeg Jets – Three (41)

Kyle Connor – 41 (82)

Mark Scheifele – 39 (82)

Gabriel Vilardi – 27 (71)

It's surprising that the Jets have only three skaters who scored 20 goals or more in 2024-25 even with the departure of Nikolaj Ehlers.

They do have depth as Cole Perfetti (18/82), Nino Niederreiter (17/82), Adam Lowry (16/73), Alex Iafallo (15/82) and Gustav Nyquist (11/79) are all capable.

It's stating the obvious, but if something happens to Connor and/or Scheifele, this team might be in trouble.
