Happy Tuesday y'all!

Today is a special day because it is the NHL Frozen Frenzy, which means every organization is in action. Beginning at 6 PM ET, we get staggered start times every 15 minutes, so we should have at least one game constantly in action. Days like this are when I wish we had multiple TVs in the household haha. Anyway, there will be plenty of lineup decisions, so if you need to bounce any ideas off of anyone, hit me up on Twitter, @LAM1926.

We went over it in our Wild West column yesterday, but with another unfortunate injury to Vegas Golden Knights forward Victor Olofsson, rookie Trevor Connelly is stepping up and has planted himself on the team's top power-play unit. In the three games without the Swedish winger, Connelly has put nine shots on net, recorded two power-play points (one goal and one assist), and is averaging 16 minutes per game. The only first-round selection the Golden Knights have made who is still on their roster, the American is only on 5% of rosters in Yahoo leagues. It might be tricky to play him this week with all of the concentrated games on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, but he is a great stash because there will be plenty of opportunities for the kid.

One player who has been flying under the radar this season is Maxim Shabanov from the Minnesota Wild. The winger scored a power-play goal last night, his most common line mate has been Kirill Kaprizov (though that has changed in recent games), and Shabanov is also on the Wild's number one power-play unit. Double-check your league's free agent pool because he is only 4% owned in Yahoo formats and has a juicy matchup on a very lightly scheduled Sunday this week.

Some Edmonton Oiler news.

Zach Hyman has been practicing with the team, taking line rushes with Filip Hallander and Jason Dickinson so it looks like his return is imminent, and possibly tonight. We would love to see him back with Connor McDavid, but it looks like Mike Babcock is going to take the power approach and keep McDavid with Leon Draisaitl as long as he can. Hallander is a Swede I am keeping an eye on throughout October because he looks to have finally found his stride, and if something happens and he lands on a line with one of the big guns, he will hold tremendous value.

One Oiler who still has a hill or two to climb in their return is Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Oilers commentator Bob Stauffer reported that he came onto the practice rink after the main session concluded. With the success the team has had to start the season (the only organization in the NHL that does not have a regulation loss), the staff has no reason to rush two of their veteran players back into the lineup. The Oilers have always suffered from depth play so the more experience they get for their younger players at this stage, the better they should be down the stretch.

It will be a hard week to stream as every team plays three games except the Anaheim Ducks and the LA Kings, who only play two. Then each of our typical light nights (Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday) have just two two scheduled contests. The Colorado Avalanche are the only team that have multiple light nights on their calendar, playing Wednesday and Friday. The one player I am focusing on from the Avs is Jaden Schwartz. Only 11% owned on Yahoo, he is currently playing the veteran role on the third line at five-on-five, but the winger is also on the team's second power-play unit. Schwartz receives those sheltered minutes and with the extra power-play time, he typically draws favorable matchups.

The Avs play the Dallas Stars back-to-back, so he will most likely face Casey DeSmith on Wednesday and then a Pittsburgh Penguins squad who will be in the middle of a four-game road trip with two goaltenders who have a combined career of 69 (nice) games played.

Then check back in on Sunday, but my streamer for the end of the week would be William Carrier from the Carolina Hurricanes. They will be in Calgary, so they have a plus matchup, and he has skated on the top line with Sebastian Aho and Andrei Svechnikov for the last three contests. In those games, the winger has recorded three assists, five shots on goal, and seven hits, and is only 3% owned in Yahoo leagues.

Thanks for reading and have a great week everyone!
