Lining Up: Toffoli’s Prime Role; Caulfield Soaring in Anaheim; Streamers in Buffalo and Calgary, and More

Happy Tuesday y'all!

After an impressive, over-achieving season last year, the San Jose Sharks had an offseason that turned them from rebuilding into potential playoffs. However, despite being in a weak Pacific Division, the expectations may have been set too high. Now sitting at 7-8-1 after a loss to the Calgary Flames last night, it is looking pretty bleak on Sharks Twitter.

Because of the underperformance, San Jose has swapped up their power play lines and moved to a five-forward unit for the time being. Dmitry Orlov was moved off so he loses a ton of value here, and they replaced him with another veteran, Tyler Toffoli. The former LA King is currently playing with the highly skilled duo of Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith, and now secured four-plus minutes of power play time. Although they did not convert, the chemistry with the young Sharks is there so he will continue to get opportunities.

The Anaheim Ducks have been one of the more fun teams to watch this season because of all the goals in their games (on both sides). As a group, the Ducks have averaged 3.5 goals per game, but are giving up 3.8 goals per contest. The total over their last four games is 42 so we love to see their name on the schedule. Players like Leo Carlsson and Cutter Gauthier are starting to pay dividends and one player who was not expected to make the team out of training camp but has worked his way up the lineup is Judd Caulfield. As the Ducks look for some sort of consistency, the 25-year-old has played primarily with Carlsson over the last four games and has recorded three goals and five points. A big development in his success has been the opportunity to play on the power play, where he sets up in front of the net, a role that was vacated this offseason after the Ducks terminated Chris Kreider's contract.

This week we have two teams that have three lightly scheduled games: Buffalo Sabres and Calgary Flames.

The Sabres are returning home from their California road trip with a clean sweep of the state and one player to keep an eye out for during the light days is Noah Ostlund. The Swede is center Jack Quinn and Josh Doan on the second line and plays with the number one power play unit. He won't do anything in banger categories and maybe that's why he is only 5% owned, but there is always a chance for points when you play 18+ minutes a game.

It is rare to see an organization on this list twice in two weeks, but the Calgary Flames are back in the streaming spot. Last week we had Matvei Gridin (4%) and Joel Farabee (13%) on this list and those ownerships skyrocketed, but they are still on our stream list if you can find them. I will add one name to this list and that is Matt Coronato. Only 21% owned, the winger plays top line minutes along with top power play usage and erupted for four points against the Seattle Kraken last week. Anytime someone has that sort of potential, they are always worth a flyer during those minimum schedule nights.

Three other teams have two games on lightly scheduled days and two of them are teams we discussed earlier: the San Jose Sharks and Anaheim Ducks.

We mentioned Tyler Toffoli earlier and he is a veteran I am looking to stream. The Sharks are trying to find the right mix to jumpstart their power play so who knows how long this new group sticks together, but it's definitely worth the risk to have a piece of this extra man unit if all it is going to cost you is a waiver add. At only 15% owned on Yahoo, the winger should be an easy target to scoop up for the rest of the fantasy week.

Again, another player we mentioned before has a very likable schedule this week and the stream here is Judd Caulfield. The potential return of Troy Terry does throw a wrench in this plan, but the 25-year-old has earned some stripes for the time being after his recent offensive surge.

The American winger is only 1% owned in Yahoo leagues so he is practically free and should be an easy stream for their games at the end of the week.

As always, hit me up on Twitter, @LAM1926, if you have any questions about trades or need some help with lineup decisions. Have a great week
