Some SHOP notes:   No longer for sale is an Ultimate Fantasy Pack. Instead, I have a "Mini Pack" that has the Midseason Guide and Playoff List for $12.99. This package, plus the Keeper League Package, adds up to $29.49, which is actually cheaper than the Ultimate Pack was. I think it's easier and [...]

DobberBaseball Fantasy Prospects Report - released yesterday – be sure to drop by the site and pick that up if you’re in a baseball keeper league.   TSN is reporting that Kyle Turris is about to sign a two-year deal. There is not a doubt in my mind that a trade will happen next. [...]

Angus here - voting is up for the Replace the KB contest at the Province. Give me a vote! The support from the DobberHockey community has been amazing.   Phoenix has recalled Goncharov - speculation is that Klesla is hurt. Goncharov only has three points in 16 AHL games this campaign.   Jaromir Jagr [...]

Angus here - managed to chat for a while with Alex Burrows about a wide variety of non hockey topics. Check the interview out (and give me the thumbs up) here.   Listening to the audio of the Bylsma conference call now. Sullivan-Malkin-Neal/ Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis/ Cooke-Staal-Kennedy. He alludes to Staal also mixing in with Malkin, [...]

Big Disappointments

Kreider

After considerable analysis of the 2004-2007 drafts (post lockout)  it appears that on average, six elite fantasy prospects across all positions eventually emerge from each draft. ELITE is defined as a  forward that can likely flirt with a point per game over a few seasons, defensemen that reach 45-50 points over a few seasons and goalies that are  considered Top five to Top 10 for at least four to five seasons.

Saturday’s Picks – November 19, 2011

Fehr

A tough week last week for Anthony as he’ll have some wounds to lick after only picking a single winner, however I don’t think there was anyone who wasn’t surprised with the Sens, Coyotes, Devils, Hurricanes, and Blues all winning last week.  Two weeks ago Thunder and I tied again in our proline dealings with 3-3 splits, although picking 5 out of 6 winners straight up hopefully helps build confidence for this week.  Although I’m only 7-11 with my proline picks this year, my straight up winners looking much better at 11-7.  Thunder has been as steady as can be at 9-9, but we all know .500 isn’t going to get you into the playoffs so it’s time for her to step up her game. Anyways, let’s see if we can get some winners for you this week:

Depth and Drafting

Moulson

If you own Tim Connolly, Alexander Semin, Sami Salo and Pascal Leclaire all on the same roster, you should think of trying something else. One can potentially weasel their way out of such sticky situations with deft late-round drafting or perspicacious waiver wire picking. Yea, I may use thesaurus.com, so what?  What’s bad is running with a roster of the aforementioned players without the appropriate bandages, er… depth to fill in when they are down and out.  Acquiring this depth is most easily done through your draft and a strategical focus and plan can help.

Mikhail Grabovski will miss the next two weeks with an LBI. Clarke MacArthur's UBI the Leafs are eerily silent. Could be a week or a year. Shhhh...   We have a one-week free trial for Frozen Pool now. You can access it here. Try it, like it, subscribe!   Ilya Kovalchuk will be back [...]

We finally have this set up (I think/ hope). Goalie Post now offers a one-week trial membership. That’s free. Now you will see what I’ve been preaching to you – that if you’re in a fantasy league with daily transactions, this will be the best 83 cents per month you’ve ever spent. Now head [...]

I think Hagman will have an early impact in Anaheim, much like Jason Blake did. Nothing sustainable, but look for a two-week pop.   Crosby skates with Neal and Malkin in practice. But still no change in his status. Sullivan/Kennedy questionable for Tuesday   One game in with his new team and we can [...]
