Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian readers! Mike Cammalleri is reportedly out for two weeks after getting his leg sliced by a skate. Puck Daddy has the details/video here. The Habs lost another center Sunday, when Blair Betts was sent back to the Flyers because he is "damaged goods" (failed his physical). The Flyers [...]
Pick up Dobber's sixth annual Fantasy Guide here. Matt Cooke was levelled with a headshot from Cory Sarich’s shoulder in the second period of the Pens/ Flames game as I started writing this Ramblings. My tweet minutes later was: “Matt Cooke takes shoulder to head from Cory Sarich. At least I think it [...]
Preseason success isn't always a good indicator of regular season success, however, for prospects it's one of the few times to make a significant impression. This week we look at four more prospects that have had outstanding training camps/preseasons. Two have likely earned themselves a permanent NHL roster spot. Three of the four prospects last week were well known prospects. This week's players are more obscure and in some cases have come out of nowhere.
Mathieu Perreault is playing with Brouwer and Semin tonight - Marcus Johansson is a healthy scratch. Perreault needs to make the most of this opportunity. Al Montoya is getting the start tonight for the Isles. Leafs prospect Gregg McKegg had six assists last night (all primary assists). Jose Bautista consulted twitter [...]
Welcome to the 2011-12 NHL season! As a proud first time father I would like to take a minute to share a story. My wife got a message from her childhood best friend whom she hasn't spoken to in years congratulating us on our new baby. As it turns out he is an avid Dobberite and came across a congratulatory shout out the other day in the ramblings to a Marty Kwiaton. At first he didn't make the connection that in fact his childhood best friend’s husband chips in with a column every other week on a website he has been visiting for who knows how long.
Final update for the Fantasy Guide is now ready for you to download. This update - Havlat, MacLean and more... Marc-Andrei Gragnani is playing for the Sabres tonight - Mike Weber is a healthy scratch. The Jets claimed Brett MacLean off of waivers from Phoenix. MacLean may be a case of a [...]
The Ontario Hockey League is only five games old for the young Ottawa 67 forward and Sean Monahan is among the country’s hottest junior aged players. To start the 2011-12 OHL season, Monahan has already notched five multipoint games including two three-point efforts and has immediately started turning heads.
Check out Gates Imbeau's "Studs and Duds" below - a review of the preseason and some fantasy projections and predictions for the coming season. A few bits of news yesterday in the fantasy hockey world have brought up the issue of residual fantasy value once again. Two players, one claimed off of waivers [...]
The gang weighs in on the 2011-12 season, and if it’s anything like our postseason success (as a consensus, the panel is 54-21 in five postseasons), you can take these picks to the bank.
