NHL Picks for Saturday March 07

Last week signified one small step for mankind as Thunder seemed to come back down to earth winning only three of 11 matchups. Yes, I realize that I only picked four correctly, however at this stage in the game I’ll take any small victory I can get to get the ball rolling. Thunder is still ahead with a 12-12 record through two weeks. I have a feeling we’ll be moving our clocks one hour ahead this Saturday night... YES! I’ve already got one right this week. Plenty of games, so here we go:

 Jack Hillen has two points in his last three games and saw a season high 19:30 last night. Clearly benefitting from the Campoli trade... Sean Avery was a minus-1 and took two minutes in penalties on 13:56 of ice time in his Rangers debut.  Last two luxury suite spots are now sold. I thought Dobber was out of his mind when he wrote in his guide before the season started, that he considered Yann Danis a better goalie than Joey MacDonald and would steal the latter’s job. Over his last five games, Danis only has three wins, but his ancillary numbers have been spicy hot, sporting a sweet 0.968 save percentage, a 1.00 goals-against-average and two shutouts.

 Interesting note - the Leafs have signed Jeff Hamilton as an unrestricted free agent. I suspect that his impact will be a big one early on, then fade away. That's his M.O.  Rostislav Olesz will be back in the lineup in about two weeks. Jiri Hudler has just one point in his last seven contests.  Lost [...]
