Rambling about the new line combinations for traded players; McDavid vs. Eichel; and how I did in my leagues *** In two of my leagues the trade deadline came and went - and I threw in the towel. In all three of my leagues, I was sitting ninth or 10th in December thanks to brutal [...]

Fantasy Impact: The Boston Bruins have acquired defenseman John-Michael Liles from the Carolina Hurricanes for a third- and a fifth-round draft pick, as well as prospect Anthony Camara. The Bruins get: a puck-moving defenseman coming off a horrible 2014-15 to have an improved 2015-16. The Hurricanes get: tremendous value for a player [...]
Fantasy Impact: The Anaheim Ducks have acquired winger Jamie McGinn from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for a conditional third-round draft pick. The Ducks get: a streaky scorer who can hold his own on a scoring line...if he happens to be 'in the zone' at the time. The Sabres get: a decent [...]
Fantasy Impact: The Boston Bruins have acquired Lee Stempniak from the New Jersey Devils for two draft picks (second and fourth rounds) The Bruins get: a streaky winger who can score. But he can also not score. What he was doing in New Jersey was unprecedented for him and it was the result of [...]
Fantasy Impact: The New York Islanders have acquired rookie Shane Prince and a seventh-round draft pick from the Ottawa Senators for a third-round draft pick. The Islanders get: a promising youngster with scoring-line upside. Prince is from Rochester, New York. The Senators get: a third-round pick, which pretty much covers them off [...]
Fantasy Impact: The Anaheim Ducks have acquired sniper Brandon Pirri from the Florida Panthers for a sixth-round draft pick in 2016. The Ducks get: a 22-goal scorer (last year). Pirri has 46 goals in his last 150 games. The Panthers get: a draft pick for a player they didn't need anymore, thanks to [...]
Fantasy Impact: The Dallas Stars acquire defenseman Kris Russell from the Calgary Flames for Jyrki Jokipakka, prospect Brett Pollock and a conditional second-round draft pick. The Stars get: a top shot-blocker and solid two-way defenseman who can fill in as a puck-mover on the power play if needed. Unfortunately for Russell's fantasy owners, it's [...]
Fantasy Impact: The Colorado Avalanche have acquired Mikkel Boedker from the Arizona Coyotes for Alex Tanguay, Connor Bleackley and Kyle Wood. The Avs get: A speedy winger who can score and has plenty of untapped potential. His career high is 51 points, but at just 26 years of age he can obviously do [...]
