Happy Halloween! Hope your fantasy team has had more treats than tricks so far. As you search the contents of your Halloween bag (or your kid’s bag!) to separate the quality candy from the undesirable kind, let’s do the same for our fantasy teams. Martin Necas has been bringing the full-size chocolate bars for his [...]
Sean Couturier had a game that nobody expected. The Flyers’ captain smashed a 32-game goal drought with a hat trick and two assists and a plus-5, reaching 500 points while leading his team to a 7-5 win over Minnesota in a matinee game. Couturier had hardly made an impact before Saturday, as he entered this [...]
The Rangers have signed Alexis Lafreniere to a seven-year, $52.15 million contract extension, which works out to a $7.45 million cap hit. That’s a significant raise from the $2.325 million cap hit that Lafreniere has on the final year of his contract, so cap league teams will need to budget for that next season. Lafreniere [...]
Hi, it’s Ian, filling in for Alex today. On Tuesday, the NHL promoted its first Frozen Frenzy in which all 32 teams play on the same night. From a marketing standpoint, it makes sense because it’s a day that the NHL can (mostly) have to itself on the North American sports landscape. The World Series [...]
Drake Batherson filled the statsheet for the Senators in their 5-4 win over Tampa Bay: two goals (one on the power play), one assist, seven shots, and two hits. It’s been feast or famine for Batherson this season, as this is his second three-point game. He hasn’t registered a point in his other three games. [...]
It's early, but… Steven Stamkos has yet to register his first point as a Nashville Predator. Missing a 100-assist playmaker like Nikita Kucherov might have something to do with it, but Stamkos is at least shooting the puck. With 14 shots over his four games, Stamkos’ 3.5 SOG/GP is as high as it has been [...]
We’re barely a week into the season, and already the questions are pouring in about whether to drop a struggling goalie. In fact, it’s a usual rite of passage of every fantasy hockey season. This season, the goalies happen to be Alexandar Georgiev and Tristan Jarry. I didn’t expand on the stats too much when [...]
After some major adjustments to the September version thanks to Bangers Fantasy Hockey, we are only making minor injury-related tweaks to the rankings for October. More significant changes should appear in November once a larger sample of games has been played. The stat categories for the Roto Rankings as of September are as follows: Goals, [...]
It’s the first Saturday night of the NHL season! Lots to talk about, so I’ll break down what I noticed from a fantasy perspective. Elias Lindholm is off to a great start with his new team. Lindholm scored a goal in the Bruins’ 2-1 matinee win over the Kings. That gives him points in all [...]
First off, it’s great to be back writing about actual games again. After a long summer of predictions and projections, we can finally find out how everything will play out. Following a memorable debut with a first-period goal and assist, Macklin Celebrini is considered questionable for tonight’s game with a lower-body injury. Celebrini was battling [...]
