The September update for the Roto Rankings will appear later today. I’m happy to say that Bangers Fantasy Hockey will be back providing the preseason rankings again this season. In fact, if you would like to view the rankings before then, you can head over to the Bangers website and become a subscriber, then download [...]
Some news items to start. Ilya Sorokin is dealing with an upper-body injury from offseason training. GM Lou Lamoriello is unsure whether Sorokin will be ready for training camp but says he should be ready for the start of the season. This doesn’t sound like cause to drop Sorokin down your rankings (yet), but the [...]
Filling content during the offseason is difficult. Perhaps the easiest way for me to break the writer’s block is to participate in a mock draft. I decided to join a 14-team mock draft at Yahoo, since once of my leagues has 14 teams. Even if Anthony Stolarz’s rank is way too high, mock drafts are [...]
The Offseason Fantasy Grades articles have now been completed for all 32 teams. You can view them all at The Dobotomy page. Remember, these articles won’t predict where each team will finish in the standings, but instead they provide a quick rundown of each team’s offseason changes, prospects that might be ready for a full-time [...]
Some professional tryouts were added to the list on Thursday. Calen Addison and Nikolay Kulemin have both agreed to PTOs with Ottawa, while Michael Hutchinson and Jakub Zboril will be headed to New Jersey’s camp on PTOs. Addison is an interesting one that a few fantasy leaguers will be watching. Just two short seasons ago, [...]
For the last 21 years (12 with The Hockey News) Dobber has reviewed each team from a fantasy-hockey standpoint and graded them. The 22nd annual review will appear here on DobberHockey throughout the summer. This is not a review of the likely performance on the ice or in the standings, but in the realm of [...]
Seth Jarvis is the latest restricted free agent to sign on the dotted line, agreeing to an eight-year, $63.2 million contract with the Hurricanes. PuckPedia shows a cap hit of $7.5 million per season, which is the fourth-highest on the Canes after Sebastian Aho, Andrei Svechnikov, and Dmitry Orlov. Their core of Aho, Svechnikov, Jarvis, [...]
The hockey world was in mourning on Friday with the sudden and tragic passing of Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew Gaudreau. The two were cycling in New Jersey on Thursday evening when they were struck by an impaired driver. This is devastating news on so many levels. https://twitter.com/BlueJacketsNHL/status/1829481858968535120 Johnny Gaudreau was 31 years old, [...]
When I returned on Wednesday afternoon from my trip to Oregon, I hadn’t started at all on three consecutive days’ worth of Ramblings, with the first one due in just over 24 hours. A mock draft seems like something that could get the ball rolling after pushing aside fantasy hockey for a few days of [...]
Although it’s too early for single-season drafts (at least in my opinion), many keeper leagues have started their entry drafts for 2024-drafted players. I had one league complete one recently, so I’ll share the results. It’s only a 12-player draft because it is a 12-team league with a one-round draft, so it may be smaller [...]
