Igor Shesterkin, the prized prospect goalie for the New York Rangers, got the call to the NHL on Monday morning. He’ll join both Alexandar Georgiev and Henrik Lundqvist, which means this team is carrying three goalies for the time being. That’s going to wreak havoc on fantasy owners and their starts, particularly those in [...]
We had an intense Winter Classic on Wednesday afternoon as Nashville went to Dallas to play the Stars at the Cotton Bowl. The home team managed a 4-2 win, and the game didn’t take long to get heated. Corey Perry elbowed Predators defenceman Ryan Ellis in the head just a few minutes into the [...]
Doing articles like this is really, really hard. My initial list I had cut to 19 players, and then down to 15 players. Once I got to 15, I had nearly an impossible task cutting it down to just 10. At a certain point, you’re just nit-picking small things, like not enough 50-point seasons [...]
Pretty much status quo on all of Sidney Crosby, Brian Dumoulin, and Justin Schultz for the Penguins. The first name had a day off while the other two still haven’t started skating. That means there’s still a way to go before this team is healthy, as has been the case almost all year. * [...]
We got significant updates on a few Blackhawks players, and none of them good. Brandon Saad is going to miss a few weeks with an ankle injury while both Calvin de Haan and Brent Seabrook are out for the season with shoulder surgeries of their own. On top of that, for Seabrook, he will [...]
With the World Juniors underway, maybe just a little reminder that fans shouldn’t get their hopes up too high. It’s not just the yelling and screaming at teenagers – some of whom have been in the NHL already – but it’s just the success rate of prospects. For a quick little exercise on just [...]
Alex Edler returned to the Vancouver lineup following a 10-game absence due to injury. That he’s back is a good sign but it seems pretty clear that he’s not going to wrangle the top PP minutes away from Quinn Hughes anytime soon. * Playing their second game in as many nights, Arizona went back [...]
Duncan Keith returned to Chicago’s lineup on Wednesday night and that resulted in a healthy scratch for Brent Seabrook. Just as a small aside, it's a wonder what the Blackhawks will do with that Seabrook contract. He basically hasn't been worth his cap hit at any point of his deal and there are still [...]
It was a big day of news in the NHL on Monday but nothing bigger than the trade of Taylor Hall to the Arizona Coyotes. This was a trade speculated for months now – even before the Devils got off to a terrible start. With the Coyotes off to a great start at the [...]
All fantasy owners need help in the short term AND the long term. The Looking Ahead feature identifies one player to plug into lineups in the short term, a second to invest in for the long term, a third to bench for the coming week, and a fourth who will struggle to meet expectations [...]
