With the Super Bowl last night, we had a fairly light day for hockey with just three very early Sunday afternoon games. Here’s what went down. * Due to injuries and general under-performance across the roster, Montreal tried something a little different with their lineup on Sunday: a second line of Alex Galchenyuk, Jonathan Drouin, [...]
Phillip Danault appears prepping for a return for the Habs as he skated on Friday morning before the team hit the ice, his second time this week. Danault has been out since the middle of January with a concussion. Baby steps. Obviously, skating before practice and taking part in a full-contact practice are two very [...]
The 2018 NHL All-Star game took place on Sunday with the Team Pacific taking home the title with a 5-2 win over Team Atlantic. Brock Boeser was named the MVP with two goals and an assist across the two games. The games themselves were fine. Again, as I mentioned in my Ramblings on Saturday, this [...]
The Professional Hockey Writers Association released their midseason awards on Friday. These were voted on by 150 hockey writers and, presumably, over 2000 fans that would be amalgamated into one vote. Fans logged on and provided their winner for each of the major trophies, plus a few others like the Rod Langway award for top [...]
As always, there’s some injury news to pass along. Jaden Schwartz has been out of the St. Louis lineup since December 10th. Since that date, the Blues are 21st in shot share, 26th in goal share, and sport a record of 8-10-1. Knowing this, some good news for Blues fans that the return of Schwartz [...]
There was significant injury news that came out Friday, Dobber heads. The first bit of news was the revelation of a knee injury to Rangers defenceman Kevin Shattenkirk. He’s apparently been playing through a meniscus tear in his left knee through all season and it’s gotten to the point where he needs surgery. As reported [...]
Victor Hedman will be out three to six weeks, according to the team. That timeline puts him back in the lineup anywhere from just after the All-Star Game until nearly the trade deadline. That is a huge blow for his fantasy owners, presuming they don't have Mikhail Sergachev on their rosters. He will, presumably, assume [...]
With bye weeks arriving, the NHL loaded up Sunday’s schedule with 10 games. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, be sure to check which teams are taking the week off and adjust lineups accordingly. Maxing out (or close to maxing out) games played is important, even more so when there are fewer [...]
I haven’t talked much about the World Juniors in these Ramblings as I tend to avoid prospects that aren’t on the cusp of the NHL. I am not a trained scout, nor do I have any experience in scouting. I often rely on the opinions of much more informed people which makes Dobber Prospects an [...]
Hopefully everyone had an enjoyable New Year’s Eve with family and friends. We only have the Winter Classic on tap today, so there won’t be much in the way of NHL news. There will be a full update of the games on Monday afternoon during the Winter Classic. It’s New Year’s Eve, so I’m having [...]
