Rambling: Stars implode, Value Indicators for Drafts, Pittsburgh’s Re-tool **** Well, this one was pretty much over after the first 20 minutes. Robby Fabbri potted a goal for his 11th point of these playoffs about five minutes in. After a disallowed Blues goal thanks to an offside, Paul Stastny snuck one past the short side [...]
Playoff recaps, some players to avoid next year, thoughts on scouting, and Guy Boucher. **** Dallas would guarantee hockey fans with at least one Game 7, as the Stars hung on to win 3-2 in Game 6. It didn’t take long for the Stars to take a stranglehold on this game, as Mattias Janmark sniped [...]
Recapping the postseason games, Jacob Trouba in fantasy, penalty killing, Calgary, and more. **** It was an incredibly fast-paced start to the game, with both teams getting their chances to score. Brent Burns would catch Pekka Rinne cheating, and score short side over the shoulder to tie the game 1-1 after Colin Wilson opened the [...]
Recapping the Pens/Caps, Targets for the Jets, Salary Cap Problems, Jonathan Drouin, and more. **** This was a game the Caps absolutely needed. With no Kris Letang, and no Olli Maatta, there were no excuses not to win, puck luck or not. A win would tie the series, and give Washington the home ice in [...]
Anaheim Ducks announce they have fired coach Bruce Boudreau **** It was announced earlier today that the Anaheim Ducks, as many have expected, had fired coach Bruce Boudreau. This was following Anaheim’s fourth game seven loss in four seasons. The latest at the hands of the Nashville Predators. There was an interesting quote that came [...]
Game 1 of Caps/Pens, Selke Finalists Announced, and Some Thoughts on Early Rankings **** This game did not disappoint. The Caps jump out to a 1-0 series lead thanks to a monster game from T.J. Oshie, as he managed a hat trick, including the overtime winner. Andre Burakovsky got the scoring going in the first [...]
The Dobber writers weigh in on the second round of the playoffs. **** The scheduling from the NHL meant that the second round began before the first round, something I can never remember happening. We had to wait a day to post these just to find out which teams were actually in the second round, [...]
Recapping last night’s games, Henrique and Brodie, Vezina Trophy, and more. **** Ducks/Predators What was mostly a slow game really picked up in the third, but the Predators were able to hang on for a 2-1 Game 7 win, moving on to the second round for a date with the Sharks. This marks the first [...]
Playoff game recaps, the fantasy seasons of Ellis and Saad, concern for Ekblad. **** Rangers/Penguins Pittsburgh is one game away from closing out the Rangers following a 5-0 thrashing of New York. Evgeni Malkin was a huge story in this game with two goals and two assists. I think he’s healthy. This one was pretty [...]
Recap of last night’s games, Sean Monahan, potential breakouts for next year, and more. **** Flyers/Capitals Behind a strong goaltending performance from Michal Neuvirth, and a more aggressive penalty kill, the Flyers took the fourth game by a 2-1 score, extending the series at least another game. This one was a bit of a step [...]
