After falling behind 2-0 in the series, the New Jersey Devils won four of the next five games, including their 4-0 shutout of the New York Rangers Monday night in Game 7. Credit to Akira Schmid, who saved all 31 shots faced in this game to secure the win, his second blank sheet in his [...]
Injuries are the part of every postseason for every team, but the way Carolina has endured theirs is something else. The team got five games from Max Pacioretty before he was re-injured and shelved for the season while Andrei Svechnikov blew out his knee out a week after the Trade Deadline. Add in the recent [...]
They didn’t play on Wednesday night, so Tampa Bay had a practice instead. At that practice, the team ran the same third line they’ve been running their last few games with Nick Paul centering Tanner Jeannot and Ross Colton. This is being done because Michael Eyssimont was injured in Game 1 and Jeannot, returning from [...]
Injuries are a part of the NHL postseason, but injuries can affect some teams more than others. Colorado not having Gabriel Landeskog at all, is one example, as is Boston looking shaky, at times, without Patrice Bergeron in the lineup. This extends to Boston’s opponent as well. Florida’s Aaron Ekblad, in my view, has not [...]
Buffalo had their end-of-year press conference, and these can usually be kind of useless for fantasy purposes. The campaign has just finished, the Draft and Free Agency are months away, and teams may have coach/management upheaval in the meantime. It can make those mornings kind of fruitless even if it’s the last chance to really [...]
The first night of the postseason is behind us but for anyone that may have missed it over the weekend, the Dobber Panel put together its predictions. Editors and writers, as well as Dobber himself, put out their picks for each series, the Cup finalists, the Cup winner, and the Conn Smythe winner. Go check [...]
With the health issues that Jonathan Toews had suffered over the last few years, it is clear his play was declining faster than a normal aging curve would otherwise dictate. Chicago is in Year 1 of a full rebuild and it will be a while before they’re competitive again. All that in mind, we got [...]
With the playoffs just a few days away, the injury status for a number of key players is going to be updated on a near-daily basis. Such is the magnification of postseason hockey where one missed game could turn the tides of an entire series. Enter Mathew Barzal, who hasn’t played in nearly two [...]
With Washington sliding out of the playoff race over the last two months, attention turned to Alex Ovechkin and his pursuit of the all-time goals record. He won’t reach it this year, and almost certainly not next year, either, but the chase is part of the fun. That chase may have come to an end [...]
Hey everyone. It isn't my usual day but I'm filling in for Dobber on this last Monday of the regular season. We should be back to regularly scheduled Ramblings programming next week. * One of the reasons the Minnesota Wild bought out the contracts of Ryan Suter and Zach Parise, taking a huge cap-hit penalty [...]
