Capped

Daoust gives us some names to consider if you need to fill other categories besides goals and assists.

In roto leagues it is extremely important to put together a balanced roster that can produce in every category. Obviously, your star players will do the heavy lifting in the offensive categories. But for the most part these star players are not going to be major contributors in other areas like hits and PIM. Sure, there are exceptions such as David Backes and Milan Lucic but they are certainly few and far between.

Hanowski may be a rookie, but his hair has been in the league for 20 years.

At this time of the year there are many prospects that are signed to entry-level contracts. Some are drafted players who finished their junior or college season while others are undrafted free agents who have made an impression on NHL clubs. With most people currently focused on the final stretch of their fantasy leagues, this is a chance to take note of, and in some cases acquire, some prospects who can help you in the coming years.

The focus will be put on salary cap leagues so financial factors will play a large role in which prospects are profiled. Eric Daoust on how to work around expensive players who aren't playing up to expectations.

All hockey players have slumps from time to time. As frustrating as it is for the player himself, it will really mess with the emotions of his fantasy owners.
