Eastern Edge

This week, I’d like to talk about players that might be lesser known outside of their own fanbases. One of the players that has caught my eye over the past week or so is a Red Wing with a great big name. Andreas Athanasiou missed the first seven games of the season due to [...]

Happy New Year! One New Year’s resolution that I hope to keep is to spend more time on each of my fantasy leagues. During the season, I normally set my line-ups every Sunday for the following week, but I often find that in week adjustments are not happening. As well, I rarely initiate trade [...]

Happy Boxing Day! I hope everyone had a great Christmas and was able to spend time with their family and friends during the holiday season. I am lucky to be visiting my family in Edmonton and my wonderful niece and nephew treated me to the Oilers versus Habs game on 23 December. It was [...]

With the Red Wings amazing 25-year playoff streak finally broken last spring, Detroit can focus on the future instead of making the playoffs. Obviously, every team’s goal should be to win the Stanley Cup, not just qualify for the playoffs. Detroit hasn’t had a realistic shot at winning the cup for a good number [...]

I’m back, fresh off a two-week vacation, where I was almost completely out of touch with the hockey world. It was a nice break from work, but unfortunately, I did miss all but a couple of games and had no hockey news during that period.   I did manage to catch parts of three [...]

A quick search of the top scorers in the Eastern Conference over the last two weeks yields a list of the usual suspects; Steven Stamkos and Nikita Kucherov, along with quite a few of those that I have mentioned over the past few articles. This week, I’ll bring forward some names that you may not [...]

Each season, there are a number of players who have fantastic starts and then fade. Others get off to slow starts and then go on the offensive. Many of the players we’ll look at this week started slowly, but appear to be turning the tide.   Lars Eller   A model of underwhelming consistency, Eller [...]

Heading into last night’s slate of games, all but five of the top 17 scorers (those with 13 points and up) were from the Eastern Conference. In fact, only two of the top eight (15 points plus) point getters are from the Western Conference. This is great if your fantasy team’s forwards and defensemen are [...]
