Dobber Experts Pool – January Update

Dobber

Now that the All-Star game is behind us, we are about to begin our stretch run.  January was an interesting month in the Dobber Experts pool.  While The Comish is still out front by 16.5 points, at one point the lead had shrunk to only five points.  Angus has reduced his projected games played at centre from plus-23 to only plus-6. In doing so, he has allowed Notch to move up and compete for second place. The two have been swapping positions on almost a daily basis.

With the NHL's trading deadline rapidly approaching, I thought it would be interesting to check out who has played for the most NHL teams. There is one guy who stands above the rest. He's been traded an unbelievable ten times and played for an NHL record 12 different teams during his 16-year career. He was taken 11th overall by Detroit in the 1989 entry draft.

Recycle for a Greener NHL

Sergei Samsonov

One man’s garbage is another man’s treasure. It’s no different in fantasy hockey. Some people look at a player and don’t see any value. Others realize that it isn’t only talent that players need, but often they need an opportunity or even a change of scenery to produce. All players who make it to the NHL are talented, but to succeed in the best league in the world, many players need to be in the right situation.

Let me start off this week by saying that I have never been a fan of the Montreal Canadiens. I now have a healthy respect for the Canadiens scouting staff and management for stocking what is a pretty good-looking mix of experience and youth. There are many fantasy worthy players that are just starting to scratch the surface of their prodigious talents.
