Dobber

The end of December brings us very close to the mid-point of the hockey season.  The 16.5 point lead The Comish had enjoyed has now shrunk to only 11.5 points.  Third and fourth place have both closed the gap and now sit 19 and 28.5 points back of the lead.  In December, The Comish lost 4.5 points overall, while the very active Notch gained 8.5 points during the month.  The biggest point gain this month was JP (JaspersRink.com) with a whopping 19.5 points, while moving from 6th to 4th place.  The biggest mover was McKeen’s Magic jumping from second last to 6th place, while gaining a solid ten points overall.

In order to balance the dobberhockey world, this week I’ll give you the Eastern Conference fantasy disappointments of the season so far. If you own any of them, then you’ve probably spent many long hours trying to figure out whether to hold onto them, try to trade them or simply cut your losses and drop them outright. I automatically eliminated the injured and the guys who appear to have already turned it around. Here are my top ten choices for most disappointing fantasy hockey players to date that reside in the Eastern Conference:

Just back from holidays and I was going to write about Jaromir Jagr’s recent scoring resurgence, but the Fantasy Frog beat me to it (thanks Eric!). It looks like Gomez and Jagr are starting to make some noise together. So here are some other quick thoughts in the fantasy world...

We all know that a team coached by Jacques Martin is defensively responsible.  It’s no dream vacation owning players on defensive-minded teams, unless it’s a goaltender.
