Fantasy Hockey Top 10

I have a theory that while poolies prefer potential breakout candidates over bounce-back candidates they are unwise to do so. It is better to go with the bounce-back than the breakout. This theory is based on my participation in hockey pools for decades. In fact, my first year in a pool was when a rookie [...]

au-da-cious Showing a willingness to take surprisingly bold risks. de-lu-sion-al Characterized by holding beliefs or opinions contradicted by reality or rational thought. pro-phet-ic             Accurately describing or predicting what will happen in the future. 10.  Martin Necas leads the Carolina Hurricanes in scoring. I’m pretty fit for 45. Not Zdeno Chara fit, but between kettlebells in the morning and training to race mountain bikes in the evening, I can forget I am middle aged. I can forget, that is, until my competitive juices get flowing and pretty soon I am sprinting up stairs, having a chin up contest, [...]

I announced to my wife it is Bubble Keeper Week. She had the look on her face she gets when worried I have spent a large amount of money on a new hobby. I have no idea what she was imagining I might have bought. Bubble wands? Some sort of bubble storage device? To set [...]

After an eight-year hiatus, the Puck Pastor is back at DobberHockey. This time around with Dobber, I am filling in for a few weeks for Tom Collins. I doubt anyone remembers my old column, but if you did you would remember I tried to be true to the “Puck Pastor” moniker and weave some life [...]

As we did last season, we will be looking at the notable additions and subtractions from each Western Conference team after the entry draft and free agency. Hopefully, this will give us some indications of the direction some of the teams are heading. Anaheim Ducks Addition: Brogan Rafferty - D - Not exactly a top-of-the-lineup [...]

Two months may seem like a long time, but that isn't much of a break in the fantasy hockey world. We had the NHL draft about two weeks ago, and training camps will open in about six weeks. In those eight months, fantasy general managers will be gearing up for their drafts and trying to [...]

The last seven-to-10 days have been an exciting one for fantasy hockey general managers. The NHL draft means GMs in keeper and dynasty leagues can start prepping for their fantasy draft. Trades and free agency will see players in new situations, and fantasy players are excited to see what Connor Garland can do in a [...]

We are only a couple of days away from what may be one of the quietest days in free agency history. With NHL teams not seeing an increase in cap space, many squads may choose not to stay quiet on the opening day of free agency on Wednesday, July 28. Instead, teams may have to [...]
