The Journey

Year after year the focus of the World Juniors is typically on the highly touted and/or high draft pick prospects such as Elias Pettersson, Cale Makar, Rasmus Dahlin and Casey Mittelstadt to see just how dominant they can be against the rest of the best in their age group. But every tournament a handful of [...]

Kevin is back in the saddle this week for a Journey edition of stock watch at the World Junior Championships in Buffalo.   Jordan Kyrou – Canada – 2016, 35th Overall – STL   Kyrou’s stock has been rising all season, as he leads all Ontario Hockey League scorers with 58 points in 30 games [...]

As is typically the case with the defensive rankings there wasn’t a whole lot of big time movement outside of a few players.   Chad Krys – CHI –41st up from 79 One of two Chicago prospects in this column, Krys is this month’s biggest mover and for good reason. The Blackhawks 2016 second rounder had [...]

[...]

There’s arguably no bigger “first” in a player’s career than scoring your first NHL goal. It signifies that you’ve arrived and made an impact. Sadly this is something I will never get to experience unless there is a team out there looking for a 34 year old with hand of stone (call me). But the [...]

Welcome to the latest installment of The Journey! This week I’ll be taking a look at seven players, one from each round, from the 2017 Entry Draft that are currently outplaying their draft position. I do realize that most of these players have only played a fraction of their season so far and a lot [...]
