The Wild West

This week we will look at the top rookies in the West, including a diamond in the rough named Connor Bedard. Surprisingly, there is only one goalie included. I thought Lukas Dostal would be a bit better, but John Gibson has played well enough to hold onto his crease, while Dostal has struggled in his [...]

As we are almost to the first-quarter point of the season, I’m going to choose a most valuable player and a most disappointing player from each team in the West this week. I’m going to try and choose players who have been a revelation or a disaster for fantasy pools. The nice thing about disappointing [...]

After two weeks of covering the Monday Ramblings, I’m happy to be back doing the Wild West this week. This week, we are going to look at each team in the West and see how the goalies are doing, what the current deployment is and what it might be going forward. I’m also going to [...]

This article covers players who are 25% rostered and under on Yahoo that can help your fantasy team. We are now into week five of this NHL campaign and our rosters are starting to settle. The waiver wire cupboards may appear bare, but there is still some major value out there. We just need to [...]

This week in the Wild West, I want to look at four players to buy low on and four players to sell high for fantasy.  One thing to know about buy-lows and sell-highs is that if you are rostering these players, it doesn’t mean you have to trade them or drop them. This is just [...]

This week I’m going to look at each team in the West and pick some players who have stood out positively and perhaps negatively after just a few games. See Part 1 here. Nashville Predators Alexandre Carrier seems to be back to the level that he was from 2021-22. He has two assists in six [...]

This week I’m going to look at each team in the West and pick some players who have stood out positively and perhaps negatively after just a few games. Anaheim Ducks Pavel Mintyukov is still only 19 years old but has already scored his first NHL goal and has two points in five games. He’s [...]

It is very early in the 2023-24 season, but we can see which players from each team have been given opportunities on the first or second unit of the power play. Some teams split 50/50, others 60/40 and some 80/20 like the Edmonton Oilers. Most NHL teams tend to operate with 4F/1D on the power [...]

This year, because it is such a deep crop of rookies, I’m going to list the top rookies by team in the Western Conference. Some of these players could start the year in the minors because of waiver exemptions and salary cap implications but it appears that most rosters have now been set. We will [...]

Now that we have tiered the goalies and defensemen for the West, it is time to move on to the forwards. There are a lot more forwards than defense, so we will focus on just the first five or six tiers. Tier McDavid Connor McDavid – Edmonton Oilers – McDavid was my only player in [...]
